Thanks to social media, cell phones, and Hollywood, reading has become a thing of the past. I even overheard someone say reading is something for old people in retirement homes or hipsters trying to look vintage. What the world needs to realize is books are the reason we have things like Facebook, The Avengers, and Game of Thrones.
Reading is not only an escape from reality, but it opens up an entirely new way to view the world. As a reader, you become more open minded, less angry, and more adventurous.
Reading also is a great way to hold a conversation with coworkers, friends, or strangers. It creates a bond, endless topics, and plenty of topics.
Reading also opens up your imagination. How do you think so many movies were created? Writers read and find good stories and then use their imagination to write scripts and build other ideas off of other books. We wouldn't have any of the stars, music, movies, or TV we have now if there was never anything to give us those ideas.
Reading books is an important and necessary hobby that everyone should be doing. Society today would be nowhere without it.
