This started off as a simple entry in my journal but I soon decided that I should be sharing this one to the world. I have a pretty cool friend. Her name is Emma and she loves adventures. I am so lucky to have been her friend, teammate, and most importantly her adventure buddy over the past few years. So, thanks Emma for being my adventure buddy and helping me start living my life to the fullest and step out of my comfort zone. There is just something about the adventures that we go on that create these ever lasting memories that will be forever cemented in my mind.
If you do not have an adventure buddy of your own you really should find one because it creates some pretty incredible experiences. I guess you could say it is kind of a once in a life time opportunity. Having someone with you that enjoys exploring the the beauty and unknown of the world is so cool. Will you take a chance? Will you step outside of your comfort zone? Will you find an adventure buddy? Or will you let it pass; let it slip right through your fingers?
Here are a few reasons as to why everyone needs an adventure buddy in their life:
1. They are your motivation
I mean lets be honest, you aren't going to go out there and explore an abandoned building or climb to the top of a cliff alone. You aren’t going to do something completely spontaneous and crazy without someone motivating you to do so!
2. They always have the supplies that you don’t have
If you go on an adventure by yourself and you realize that you forgot to bring a flashlight, your camera, food, water, etc almost half the time your partner has what you need.
3. They take artsy pictures of you
When I go on adventures my partner always snaps the coolest candid pics of me exploring and I do the same for her. It is just a cool way to remember the places that we explore. Plus it makes our Instagram feeds look cool.
4. They push you out of your comfort zone
This is the absolute best part. When you step out of your comfort zone you feel so incredible. Your heart feels like it is beating out of your chest and honestly that is how you know that you are having fun. Very few things have this effect so take the chance and try it. If it wasn’t for my adventure buddy I would have never stepped out of my comfort zone.
5. They make everything an adventure
Everything that you and your adventure buddy do together is automatically considered an adventure. Whether it is going downtown and walking around, going to explore an abandoned building, going out and taking pictures, everything. Nothing is ever dull and boring when you are with this person.
6. Did it even happen if you are by yourself?
You need someone to be able to look back on your adventures with and question what in the heck you were thinking. It is so much cooler to experience the adventures with someone than by yourself. Also, if something crazy were to happen, you need someone to be able to back you up when people question your sanity. They are able to tell your stories with you.
7. They will support all of your crazy ideas
You need someone who understands that every adventure is an adventure whether it is absolutely crazy or not. There aren’t any bad ideas even if it looks like it can’t be done. You need someone to back you up on your ideas because if you don’t you will just second guess your self and may miss out on the adventure of a life time.
8. They are a second pair of eyes
When you have an adventure buddy it is another pair of eyes to help you find a way into those abandoned buildings that are all boarded up. They also come up with new ideas for adventures that you probably would have never thought of.
Finding an adventure buddy is not the easiest of tasks but once you find the right one, you better never let them go. They will be part of some of the most fun and best times of your life. Hold on to them. This one is for you Emma, love you!
