Behind every little girl is a big brother that helped shape her. For those of us lucky enough to have this experience, you know how important your older brothers are and how much they have impacted you. Here are the reasons why big brothers are so important:
They make you strong
Yes, I mean physically, because duh they tortured you, but also mentally. If you wanted to hang with the boys, you couldn’t cry or whine so you learned to deal with life. We learned to suck it up so we could hang with the big boys. Who knew we would thank them for all the “stop acting like such a girl” comments that we always hated?
They pave the way for you
Whether it's school, punishments, or simply life experiences, they go through everything before you and work out all the kinks. Teachers in high school will know you (hopefully by a good association), your parents are always more lenient with you, and your brothers can talk you through almost anything.
You already know upperclassmen
There’s nothing better than going into freshman year of high school and already recognizing faces from all of you brothers’ friends. It also doesn’t hurt that upperclassmen are saying hi to you in the hallway.
They’ll look out for you, even if you don’t know it
They may not make it known, but they’re always checking up on you. Whether it’s asking your mom what’s going on or Facebook stalking you, no brother can resist taking care of their baby sister.
You always have a protector
Horrible ex-boyfriends? Drunk people in bars? They always have your back if someone messes with you. Its basically like having security around 24/7. Sometimes you may hate it, but in the end it's always a plus.
There is no greater role model
Yeah they’ll make mistakes and sometimes they still act like they’re 12, but when push comes to shove, they know how life works. They’ve gone through it and are similar to you in ways you’ve never imagined; therefore they can always give good and applicable advice.
So here’s a thank you to all the older brothers out there, to the ones who loved us first, and haven’t let us down since.
From, your loving younger sisters.
