As an avid binge-watcher of Grey's Anatomy, I have watched the finest people of primetime television evolve into memorable and fully rounded characters. As a young girl, I always hoped I would find my McDreamy or McSteamy, but as I got older and watched the show further in depth, I realized there were several more important factors the show covered besides presenting ideal man candy. Critical topics such as challenging racism and sexism, overcoming mental and physical obstacles, homophobia, relationship struggles, dealing with death, just to name a few, were brilliantly showcased since the beginning of the show back in 2005.
However, there were several good things happening among these difficult situations, such as the doctors falling in love and getting married, medical career advancements, having children, and developing powerful friendships. In my opinion, Grey’s Anatomy is responsible for creating some of the best friendships on television: Mark and Callie, Arizona and April, Bailey and the chief, Jo and Stephanie, Meredith and Alex, but most importantly, Meredith and Cristina.
The epitome of an empowering friendship comes in the embodiment of Meredith Grey and Cristina Yang. Literally, everyone who has a slight concept of the show knows about Meredith and Cristina. These two have been through everything together: the hospital shooting, the trials, and tribulations of each other's romantic relationships, Meredith nearly drowning, the plane crash, and literally everything terrible that happened in the entirety of the show. Despite their lives going in different directions and having multiple mishaps along the way, Meredith and Cristina managed to find their ways back to each other. In reality, girls need healthy friendships with each other, and by exemplifying Meredith and Cristina's friendship, you are bound to find your person.
Here is why the twisted sisters are friendship goals:
1. Meredith and Cristina were always honest with each other, even when it hurt.
2. But in the end, they always forgave one another and helped each other move on.
3. They helped each other through their relationship struggles.
4. They knew their romantic relationships were important, but in the end what truly mattered was their friendship.
5. They knew how to have fun.
6. Cristina was basically a part of Meredith and Derek’s marriage.
7. They reminded each other of their greatness.
8. They were always there for one another.
9. They danced it out.
10. They were each other’s person, no matter what.
All in all, find your person and conquer the world, forget the haters, and kick some ass.
