No matter how much you love America, I think we can all agree that Europeans do everything better. The coffee is stronger, the people are more genuine, the air is cleaner and the food, well the food doesn’t even compare. After spending the last two months in Europe, I have compiled a list of everything the Europeans do better than us.
The food is better. I don’t know why, maybe it’s because they only use fresh ingredients, or because they don’t try to skimp out on calories by using low fat dairy products, but the food is so superior to ours. I have legitimately had some of the best meals of my life at gas station cafes along the autostrada. In the US, we are lucky if our gas station cuisine extends beyond the tempting grips of prepackaged donuts and weak coffee. Come on America, do better.
Europeans care about the Earth more. When they aren’t out walking or biking someplace, Europeans can be found speeding along in their tiny (tiny) fuel efficient cars. And to prevent them from driving excessively, gas costs around $9 per gallon. Yeah, NINE DOLLARS!! We complain if our gas exceeds $3, imagine how little we would drive if our gas was that expensive. Also, you’re pretty much publicly shamed if you go grocery shopping without your own tote bag. Plastic grocery bags are not a thing.
The nightlife is better. Clubbing and going to discotheques just to dance are the norm, and drinking in excess is not a requirement for having a good time (although it always helps). It feels so much safer to be out walking around at night in Europe than it is in the US. Also you can drink at 18, not that anyone ID’s, so there is less binge drinking from rebellious teens and a lot less alcohol poisoning.
It’s prettier. No one just walks into churches in the States just to see them. In Europe you can see hundred year old frescos by incredibly famous artists in almost any local church or piazza you step into. The houses are older and quainter, and the winding streets and canals are unbeatable.
The fashion is worlds better. You will never, ever see a European out in sweats and a t-shirt. And although I can often be found wearing that exact outfit in public, I can recognize a quality outfit when I see one. And let me tell you, the Europeans have some hot outfits. Even the men wear designer belts and bags, and no one, man or woman, is ever caught without carefully combed hair and a huge pair of designer sunglasses.
Don’t get me wrong, I think the western world (Europe included) has plenty to learn from its neighbors to the East, but compared to America, Europe is kicking ass. Keep it up guys, I’ll be back soon.
