The entertainment industry can be tricky, and it is an industry that guarantees the success of the few. It's been known to cause a high that leaves people flying above the stage with the belief of being untouchable, and rejection that can cause depression if one doesn't develop that heart of steel. This industry has been the cause of happiness, passion and determination. The list is long to be in this industry, so one must know a few things before going in head on.
1. It teaches us a lesson on who is your friend, teacher or enemy.
Sometimes the arts give an illusion that everyone is your friend. However, you must be able to keep your head in the game and never give up. Not everyone you meet is out to get you, but one should always exercise caution. As one goes from role to role, one will start to get a sense of who to trust and who to not. There will be times where you can't tell the difference and that is when you will learn a hard lesson.
2. It's all about connections, and a heart of steel.
If you know the right person in order to move up then eventually you will be successful. This is the time to brush up on socializing and conversation. It's not about what you do, but it is about how you present yourself. Never lose yourself always pleasing others in a high station, but remember to balance how you approach people.
There are people who will take advantage of you, wanting to rise through the roles. Casting directors will often pick favorites, but not always. There are times where they are looking for pure talent, and not favors.
3. You never stop learning.
Everything that you learn in the Entertainment Industry stays with you no matter what. It's important that one learns what's popular to the masses as it's the nature of the entertainment business. It's important to remember old genres, because from them comes the development of newer genres. To keep learning is to keep the brain from aging, and from that talent is forever ripe.
4. Memorization..memorization...memorization.
Whether it's memorizing a dance combination or lines for a play, you must be able to memorize important facts. In order to train your brain, one should try to memorize a long monologue or to remember eight counts of eight in dance choreography.
There are some who aren't a natural at memorization, but one can train the brain to do so. Memorization has been known to reduce the effects of mental decline. Why do you think older people want to learn a new language?
5. Confidence is key.
Every person who joins the Entertainment Industry must know what they are getting themselves into. You must have confidence in what you are doing, or else no one will take your work seriously.
Confidence can be natural, or it needs to be learned in practice. Why do you think great leaders rise to power? The entertainment industry is no different than any other business, but its main purpose is to provide raw emotions.
This industry overall is very interesting, bit it can also be fun to work in. Mind you, if you like competition and want to make your way to the top, then Entertainment is the industry for you.
