I’m Tired Of Seeing Our Favorite Entertainers Go This Way, And You Should, Too

On Friday, September 7, Malcolm McCormick (known as Mac Miller) was found dead of an apparent drug overdose in his California home. He was also scheduled to have a video shoot on this day as well.

The fact that I even just had to type this doesn't only hurt my heart but it's just overall painful that we've lost yet another talented entertainer to drugs.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that news. Although I told everyone in my high school that I preferred other Pittsburgh native rapper Wiz Khalifa's music, I was low key trying not to tell anyone that I loved Mac's as well. Also because I didn't want to seem as if I was following a wave of everyone liking the same person simply because it's popular.

He was more than an artist. He was someone with a bright and fun personality that just simply wanted to find happiness in the world as we all do. Unfortunately, Miller had a sickness that many cannot escape and many seem to not understand. Addiction is one of the most unfortunate and saddest things that could ever happen to any human being. Whether it's being addicted to drugs or anything else of the sorts, being an addict is a very complicated matter.

One thing that people truly need to understand about addicts is that there are ways to get better in which they are aware, however, some need to understand that it's not always that easy. The way someone mentioned getting over addiction is very interesting to me, especially mentioning rehab. The way to look at it is like this. When someone goes to rehab, their goal is to get clean and sober. But it goes the same way as the gym.

Everyone's goal when they enter the gym is that they want to be fit and healthy. Matter of the case is, you're not going to be fit and healthy in one standing thinking it's that easy, and the same way goes with recovery. You can't expect someone who's addicted to get clean in just one day.

There are daily steps to getting better and it's never easy. It's just very unfortunate that this continues to happen especially to young people like Miller who is only two years older than myself. It saddens me and still has me and other friends, family, and fans in utter shock.

Going back to 2011, I remember everyone in my high school talking about a new upcoming rapper from Pennsylvania. At first, I just thought in my head, "Oh boy, the white Wiz Khalifa." Then one day I just said what the heck so I gave him a listen and after listening to countless songs on YouTube from the K.I.D.S. mixtape I said, "Great, he's dope and I'm officially an overnight fan." But I didn't want anyone else to know but me to not have it seem like I was just following a trend. Fast forward to 2017 and I instantly enjoyed each bit of music that Mac Miller put out. I also enjoyed the relationship that he and my other favorite entertainer, Ariana Grande, had before they split.

Speaking of which, in honor of his death, there have been countless reports of people leaving death threats and hurtful messages on Ariana's social media. So, with that said, here's something that we're not going to do. With all that this girl continues to go through on a daily basis both as a woman and an entertainer, we're keeping her OUT OF THIS! Ariana and Mac's relationship was something that made us love them as a couple, but what most don't know is that Ariana knew about his drug addiction.

She damn willingly tried everything to make sure that he was going to go in the right direction, but there's only so much that one person can do. So for everyone saying and writing messages to get such as, "You killed him!" and also slut-shaming her for being in a new relationship, realize something. That's not going to bring him back, and you should be ashamed of yourself for even trying to put a woman in that position especially knowing that she loved that man so much. So please be respectful and mindful when it comes to her. No one cares about you trying to get a laugh or saying things for retweets and views. It's not the time.

As for those out there that still think doing drugs is cool, is it cool now? The fact that someone close to you can never see you again over something as unfortunate as that just simply because you hear it in songs and think that you'll get any enjoyment out of that?

Wake up and realize that it's no longer and joke or fun! It's life-threatening and at any minute now, someone will never be able to say goodbye to you. Think about that! It's bittersweet that we'll never be able to hear another song from the late 26-year-old again, but at least we can listen to his music and appreciate the life that he gave all of us with each track.

This may never still sink in, but once again, Rest Easy Malcolm... You're in great hands.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
