A few weeks ago I wrote an article about how adult coloring books have taken over as a relaxation past time for some people. I have indulged in that and found therapy in coloring. Another past time I have recently got into is lounging in my Eno hammock outdoors with my friends. You may have seen these colorful, cocoon/ parachute looking things in pictures on your friends Instagram pages. They are absolutely worth every penny.
For Christmas, my boyfriend remembered I wanted one and decided it would be the perfect present for me. He was right. As soon as the weather warmed up I strapped up in the first two trees that I could find.
This is the perfect past time to do alone or with other people. You can bundle up with a blanket and pillow to take a cat nap or listen to music, have a drink, and chat with friends. It is the perfect way to relax without being cooped up in a stuffy house all day.
If you and your friends are feeling daring, you can even try to stack them one on top of the other in the same two trees. This past weekend three of my girlfriends and I attempted it for our first time and I would have to say that it was pretty successful. next time we are going to try and get more hammocks up!
Check out our stack below!
Eno Hammocks are made by EaglesNest Outfitters and run from about $60 to $100 depending on the size and how fancy you are wanting to get. I have a DoubleNest Hammock in Sunshine (orange, red, and yellow) that is $69.95 before tax and shipping. A DoubleNest is large enough to hold two people comfortably. You will also need the Eno SlapStraps. I recommend getting the SlapStrap Pros, as they are longer and you never know when you will need the extra slack. I got my suspension straps for $19.95 on Amazon. These will be the only two things you will need to get started.
There are many different accessories that are available from Bluetooth speakers to rain tarps. I personally will be investing in the Charcoal Guardian SL BugNet ($45.95) and the White Twilights ($19.95) next. With summer nights approaching fast I know that I will want to stay in my hammock late into the night and possibly even sleep outside. The illuminating strand will give off enough light until it is time go to sleep and the net will protect you from mosquitos and other little critters that love to bite.
The best thing about these hammocks is being able to take them anywhere. You can put them up in the woods, over water, in your room, and even on a cable line over a canyon! I like looking on Pinterest for cool places to go with mine. The possibilities are endless.
If you are an outdoors type of person or even if you aren’t your hammock will be the best thing in your backpack or tote. Weight in at 19 oz. it is light and will leave room for everything else you will need to have fun just hanging out.
Happy Hangs!
