It's officially the end of the semester. It's only a matter of time before we can sink into our Netflix binge, hibernation and Christmas cookie coma. As the semester ends, professors have decided to load you down with end-of-semester projects, papers and exams. And if you're like me, then you forgot your motivation at home after Thanksgiving Break. So here are some "Lord of the Rings" inspired study tips and motivational quotes.

1. Crying isn't the answer.

As stressful as it is to have a dozen papers due in a week, panicking is only going to drag out the process and make you feel worse.

2. Accept that you must study.

The wizard knows you spent the evening looking at memes about finals week instead of studying for that exam, so get off of Facebook, Tumbler, and Instagram... and hit the books.

3. Caffeine is a beautiful thing.

Grab your favorite mug and fill it with coffee, tea, soda or hot chocolate because you'll need the caffeine and sugar.

4. Don't procrastinate.

You have a choice between watching an hour of Netflix or working on your paper; choose wisely.

5. Start the assignment.

6. Get hyped for the battle.

Grab you textbooks, laptops, coffee and some upbeat fighting music, because it's time to run into the volcanic inferno of Mount Doom to work through these papers.

7. Find your Sam.

Whether it's a study buddy or a good friend to pump you with caffeine and force you to sit down and stop procrastinating, your Sam will always have your back.

8. Avoid distracting people.

You know who they are. Keep your distance for a few days, they will forgive you.

9. Find a peaceful study location.

Do you work best outdoors, in a cave, at the Prancing Pony, or in your hobbit hole?

10. Don't let yourself be tempted.

The precious is beckoning to you to go to that party, or do a "Lord of the Rings" marathon, but you must resist the temptation.

11. Eat well-balanced meals.

Breakfast, second breakfast, elevensies, lunchon, afternoon tea, dinner and supper.

12. Get plenty of rest.

The road to Mordor is rough, and you may have a paper due in 24 hours, but you can only pull so many all-nighters before the burden of the ring takes it's toll.

13. Know what you must do.

You've had limited sleep and lots of stress, now everyone is starting to see the toll it has taken on you. You know what you need to do, but try not to get snippy with your Sam.

14. Don't lose hope.

These are the last few major assignments of the semester. Just know that you will make it through.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
