Ten Things That Happen At The End Of The Semester, As Told By Forrest Gump

The end of the semester is always a hectic time full of studying, ordering take-out, and valuing the limited time you are able to spend sleeping. In the midst of all of the chaos, there are ten things that will undoubtedly happen to you more than once over the course of your college career.

1. You will stop caring about your appearance.

Instead of trying to look presentable or even taking a shower before class, you will only have the time and energy to throw on a pair of sweatpants and slippers.

2. As you become buried in finals work, your self-esteem may take a hard hit.

There is a good chance you will become discouraged with yourself and start to doubt your academic capabilities. But stay strong! It’s almost over.

3. You realize that you’re running out of time with the guy you’ve been admiring from across the room all semester.

Do you tell him how you feel? Do you let the potential love of your life slip away?

4. Being on time for class is no longer a priority.

Hey, at least you showed up.

5. The only thing getting you through the last couple of weeks is the fact that you get to go home and relax for a month.

6. Your bed becomes your best friend.

You cherish the time you are able to spend in it, and think about it constantly when you’re away from it.

7. Nothing will make you anxious quite like waiting for final grades to be posted.

8. You consider dropping out of school at least once every hour.

9. The diet you've tried to maintain during the semester falls apart, and you resort to eating any food that is comforting and convenient.

10. Your grades will turn out much better than you ever thought they would, and it will finally be time for winter break.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
