End of Semester Feelings, Described By Disney Lyrics

We're all dreaming of summer...

End of Semester Feelings, Described By Disney Lyrics
Taylor Townsend

We're all absolutely ready for summer vacation; no schoolwork (or at least less schoolwork), more time to do what you want, and warmth. You get to do what you want or need to do at your own pace. Even better, you're not stuck in a classroom all day.

However, as much as we think about summer vacation, it's not here yet-- sadly. We need to get through the last weeks of classes and finals before we can experience more freedom.

I'm pretty sure Disney understands exactly what we're talking about.

1. Tale as old as time....

...students crying all the time...

2. Poor, unfortunate souls--

we're stuck here in the library, commiserating over our homework. Meanwhile, the world outside is a bright, warm place of opportunities.

3. I can go the distance. I don't care how far; somehow I'll be strong--

because I want and need to pass this class. I want the credit. I can do this.

4. I have a dream!

I have a dream that the rest of the semester will go fast! Then I'll be done with homework for a little bit!

5. But look at this stuff-- isn't it neat?

There's so many Netflix shows to watch! All of the YouTube videos, too!

6. Forget about your worries and your strife.

How can I not want to watch that next "Try Guys" video?!

7. I'll be dancing through the night--

I mean, those papers and projects can be finished Sunday night, right?

8. Hakuna matata!

It means no worries, guys-- like, I'm not going to worry about my schoolwork right now.

9. Always let your conscience to be your guide...

...which means I should probably stop playing Cards Against Humanity and go back to the library. Sigh.

10. Say goodbye to those who knew me--

I might as well be locked up here.

11. Out there-- living in the sun. Give me one day out there--

Maybe I'm not being too productive in the library... I can still imagine spring and summer sitting outside the walls, waiting for me. Maybe I should go back to my dorm room--

12. I'm already in my room!

I don't remember when I got here-- but okay...

13. Keep moving forward--

because that's the only way I'm going to be done with all of this.

14. I'm almost there...

It's the home stretch!!

15. You're free!

All of my tests are done! It's the end of the week! I'm free.

Now that it's summer, I can go and do absolutely everything I've been planning for--

Or just marathon some Disney movies, at least.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
