The End of The Semester, As Told By Gifs

I Don't Think I've Ever Been So Stressed In My Life

Her Campus

Even if you're not currently in college, it's no secret that the end of the semester can be one of the most troubling times within the life of a student. As a freshman who has never dealt with such stress and is currently experiencing her first months as a college student, I can now say with certainty that the tail end of a semester comes with an entirely exclusive set of woes. After all, who wouldn't be freaking out about the fast-approaching horror that is finals week?

In light of all this stress that almost all of us can probably sympathize with, I figured that I'd make my best attempt to lighten the mood...

What better way to do that than via the wonderful means of ever so-appropriate gifs that I found on the internet? Honestly, I really don't think that there is a better way (That is, unless someone wants to order me a pizza and bring it to my room while I'm studying for my finals. That would be so A1.)

1. The Return From Thanksgiving Break:

That break was pretty refreshing, wasn't it? Of course it was... After being away at school for months, perhaps without even coming home between the beginning of the semester and Thanksgiving, being off campus definitely provides an air of relief unlike any other. Getting to see friends, family, pets, and even being able to consume actual homemade food probably left you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. In fact, this feeling probably even lingered as you drudgingly made your way back after however long you had off for Thanksgiving. However, spoiler alert: That feeling? Yeah, it's gonna go out the window pretty fast, because of...

2. The Realization That Your Life Is About To Be Hell:

Did someone say that there's less than two weeks until the start of finals? Sure, you probably knew that that would be the case before you left campus for Thanksgiving, but somehow it feels like you had no clue and are coming to the sudden realization that you are done for. Deadlines and commitments are coming up fast!

...Told you that the warm fuzzy feeling wouldn't last very long!

3. When Your Schedule Starts To Pick Up And Your Workload Increases:

I've only been back on campus for a few days, but yet this has been the most stressful week of my life here so far. Maybe it's just me, but I think it may or may not have something to do with the fact that almost every single instructor decided that this was the time to dump more work on me than I have ever had to do at once since I have begun college.

(And not to mention, for all of the music majors out there: Juries. Enough said.)

4. The Urge to Procrastinate is So Real...

Everyone gets it: The idea of studying is not very appealing when you could totally just lay in bed and watch Netflix instead. However, the unfortunate reality is that this will only make you more overwhelmed in the end.

(Seriously, though, however much it hurts, get on it.)

5. That Feel When You Contemplate The Idea Of Giving Up On Everything.

Admit it: You have totally tossed around the idea of throwing in the towel during the time leading up to finals week. You've probably also considered the idea of some pretty sketchy alternate career routes, if you get what I'm saying. Who needs college when you can... Oh, the endless possibilities.

6. Trying to Make Travel Arrangements That Coincide With Your Test Schedule:

If only it really were just as easy as clicking your heels 3 times... But no, we must instead deal with expensive bus or plane tickets, finding a ride to the airport, or getting someone to haul their ass to come and pick you up from school... And yes, all of this within the lovely time constraints that your finals schedule creates for you!

Now I understand that not all college students have to deal with this phenomenon (commuters, I'm talking to you), but if you're anything like me (AKA totally crazy and attending school in a place that is an 8 hour drive away from home), getting yourself back to familiar turf truly does come with it's own set of problems.

...I know I was just there, but I just want to go home, damn it!

How will finals week turn out? Will Amanda make it to the end? Are there going to be more gifs? Tune in again in a few weeks to find out!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
