With the last month of summer approaching faster than you care to admit, embrace the dwindling days of sunshine in unforgettable style.
Bathing suit trends are under-appreciated. Summer after summer, we resort to the same colored bandeau or frilly triangle top, depending on the week, with an occasional new suit we found on sale at Target thrown into the mix. What we fail to recognize in the haze of keeping up with every other trend of the summer, is that bathing suits are the showpieces of every beach goer's day. Whether you are spending the day perfecting your golden tan or trying to choose the right filter for your fifth consecutive beach picture, please, for the love of all things fashion, rock your beach day in style.
Follow these summer bathing suit trends and you’ll never have to worry again about twinning with the woman next to you who is older than your
grandma.
First on the list, is a spin on
the classic bikini. Say good-bye to your
string bikini and say hello to mesh, ruffles, and laces. Suits with added detail go a long way, this
season, adding definition to the basic bikini.
Next up is the craze of cut-outs. Who says one-pieces are only for moms and
lifegaurds? Not this season. The one
piece has resurfaced and is better than ever. The cut-out suit shows skin where
you’d least expect it and ranges in styles from strapless and halter to deep
v-necks. This easy to wear style looks
flattering on any figure!
If you are worried about this summer’s trends going out of
style for next year, fear not! These next few trends will be all the rage next
summer and you’ll be the first to know. Last
week the Mercedes-Benz Swim Week took bathing suits by storm and revamped next
summer’s style.
Hardware was a
centerpiece of the show, with models wearing suits adorned with chunky zippers,
gold rings, and gem stone embellishments.
Next up, whether you are ready or not, big feline prints are taking the
stage. While not a personal favorite, cheetahs,
cougars, cats -- you name it -- will be the face of new one-piece suits.
Last, but certainly not least, we have the exposed hip. Hips were a focal point of the show, from
bottoms cut high on the natural waist to skin-exposing cutouts. Your tan line won’t thank you for this, but
the fashion world surely will.
