Everyone can agree that there is no better or more satisfying feeling than seeing your favorite artist or band perform live in concert. The entire process of going to see your favorite performer(s) live is exhilarating and incredibly emotional. For me, seeing One Direction at the MetLife Stadium not one but TWO times was life-changing. There are no words to truly describe the excitement that a Directioner feels when they see Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson. Let's not forget I’m 19, but the haters can hate.
I myself had no plans to go to their concert at MetLife this year because of my job and bad timing. On Jan. 10 at 9 p.m., I was listening to 95.5 PLJ while driving around with my best friend, and they were giving away tickets. My best friend and I jokingly called, not knowing what would happen next. As we’re listening to the phone ring on the other end we then hear a voice say: “Stay on the line.” So, naturally, my best friend and I start to have a full-blown panic attack and I had to pull over. Then, we hear the words, “Congratulations—you’ve won two One Direction tickets for their concert at MetLife in August.” Of course we both began to sob and gag because we were beyond excited and felt incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to go see them AGAIN.
Let’s go over what happens when you make a plan to see your favorite performer(s) and you end up going.
First, when you find out that they’re going on tour.
Your heart stops beating; everything around you freezes. Your entire world has just changed because your favorite band has finally decided to grace you with their presence.
Second, plan with your BFF to get tickets ASAP.
When you find out it’s even possible to see your favorite band or performer live every person in their right mind would immediately make a plan to get a ticket—front row seats or nose-bleeds.
Third, you make the perfect shirts and posters for them to see
Yeah, I know, realistically they’re probably not going to notice your matching shirts or light up poster board with your phone number on it, but hey, who knows, right? There's never any harm in trying to get a member from One Direction to text you, at least not in my book.
Fourth, you finally experience the concert.
You’re in the same building, you’re seeing them perform, and let’s not forget you’re breathing the same air. It was probably the best night of your life, and you can’t believe it’s over. That’s exactly what I said after the two times I went to see One Direction and what I’ll probably say after I go to see them again when they are ever in my area.
Finally, post-concert depression.
Obviously you’re going to be upset for a least a week knowing that the best night of your life is over, and you’ll have to wait a decent amount of time before you get to see your favorite band perform again. Nevertheless, it’s okay—because you know that your love for them will get you to another concert eventually.
