In El Salvador gangs are marking their territories and emphazing how powerful they are compared to the government.

So far, 2015 has been one of the worst years in the country's history. Homicide rates have increased and government's losing the people's support. In May El Salvador reported 635 homicides, not counting the murders that are not reported due to the fear of threats from the gang members.

Mara Salvatrucha, better known as MS 13, and Mara 18 Street have an intense rivalry. In 2012, the two gangs attempted to work on a truce to better the country. The truce has gone down the drain since then and the killing rates are higher than ever. The gangs haven't stopped scaring civilians with threats. The violence has gotten so extreme that bus drivers have gone on strike demanding better security.

Thousands of commuters were left stranded with no way of getting to work, to school or back home, making the country lose money. Where is the government involvement you might ask? Vice President Oscar Ortiz released a statement saying " military patrol would be deployed alongside the police for a lengthy period until the situation is under control." President Salvador Sanchez is currently in Cuba for medical reasons.

The insecurities are causing a scare not just for the civilians but also for the visitors. Many of the salvadorians have started to migrate to the states. Only time will tell what will happen in El Salvador with this gang violence.
