Prior to the overrated boom of The Chainsmokers, EDM was an underground music scene. Meaning that no way in this world would a frat boy be seen at a show. But now everyone and their sister claims to be a fan of EDM until you ask them their favorite artist and they respond with... The Chainsmokers. But even though the line between EDM and Top 40 has become blurred, true EDM is still alive and out there.

It's just hiding in the wild, vast uncharted territories:

"Uncharted" by Ejion

The third EP referred to as a tone poem draws heavy inspiration from our natural and outer realm; Earth, ocean, and the cosmos. The opening track which focuses on land, "Terra Firma," sets the stage for the EP with funky yet Earthy tunes. A melodic piano holds the track together with balance reminiscent of the balance of our solid ground, Earth.

But our world doesn't stop there, "Beneath" transcends into the deepest part of the ocean; the Mariana Trench. Through perception, one can imagine what sounds are produced in the deepest part of our ocean. Are deep sea creatures communicating with each other or would pressure crush all sound?

"Megacosm" is the final track that will leaving you wondering what is out there in galaxy. A much darker track than the previous two, Megacosm closes the EP with the reminder that this universe holds more than we what we think.

A visionary EP by all means, "Uncharted" paints scenic imagery of our mysterious world through EDM. It crosses into a territory truly uncharted.

"The Wild" by T-Roub

Referred to as the "Devil of Hype," T-Roub presents us with "The Wild." The EP opens up with "Alpha," that pays homage to the Alpha Male with howling and growling wolves. A truly progressive EP, "The Wild" plays off our natural tendencies of human instinct through aggressive and Hellish tracks.

The EP climaxes with "Paper Chasin'," and its distorted vocals. A track that I can't help but notices refers to the chase of green paper, money. Which leads seamlessly into "Omega."

The closing track that wraps up our raw and unfiltered EP leaves us making connections between the tracks. Power, money, and desire are the foundation of our human nature which is just what "The Wild" deals with. Humans desire to be in charge (Alpha), make money (Paper Chasin'), and live to the fullest (C'Mon).

The underground music scene is ran by producers that slave over their computers to create unheard sounds and master their art. They play shows for the low rate of barely nothing. There is more to EDM than "Closer," or whatever one hit wonder is being played right now. These two EPs are just a small glimpse of what the underground scene has to offer. To truly experience EDM in it's natural habitat, find a venue and attend a show. If you are an Indy native The Mousetrap is a hub for EDM and flow art. Immerse yourself in the underground scene and discover the wild and uncharted.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
