Cookies, candies, cakes, turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, biscuits, and anything else you might come across on the buffet table while you're having Christmas dinner with your family. Here is exactly how to eat over the holidays so you don't gain that unnecessary weight.
1. Avoid the vegetable tray
Carrots, broccoli, peppers, celery, grape tomatoes? Ew. Avoid eating any of this unless you can smother in it ranch, because after all, that's what makes it healthy.
2. Find the Eggnog
Because it just wouldn't be Christmas without it. Eggnog is low in fat and full of nutrition. You only get it once a year so enjoy it while it lasts!
3. Trying to pick which cookies you want?
There's no sense in trying to choose between "Kisses Peanut Butter Blossoms" and "Peanut Butter Chocolate No-Bake Cookies." Having to choose between the two is inhumane. Get both.
4. Mama's Cookin'
Whether you're going to her house or you're trying to make her recipes in your own home, nothing beats the secret ingredient: a full stick of butter. Don't forget to add that in. It'll taste so good that no one will know it's actually really healthy for you!
5. Fruit Cake
For some reason, I just don't think these two go well together. Avoid the fruitcake and go for the red velvet cake. You won't regret it.
6. Don't Leave Any Food Out at the Dinner Table
While you might think that slices of turkey and ham, mashed potatoes, corn, and casseroles of all kinds are "too much" and "you don't need it all," you're wrong. All of the food groups in the food pyramid need to be covered, so don't feel bad about eating it all. You're just trying to give your body what it needs.
7. Cheerwine Punch
It's pretty much sacred during the holidays here in North Carolina. Mix together your Cheerwine, Ginger Ale, and pineapple juice and serve cold. Drink as much as you want because your body needs sugar to survive.
8. Sausage Dip
Don't even pretend like you can't eat the whole container of it. Everyone knows you can.
9. Snow Cream
It's fun to make and it's delicious. Instead of just eating no-calorie snow, make sure you add heavy cream and sugar.
10. Go into a Food Coma
Because napping with a full belly is the best feeling in the world. Don't worry about exercising all of those calories off; your body needs them.
11. Get Seconds
Because you'll wake up hungry from your nap and you know exactly where the leftovers are!
