No one likes to deal with stress because even when you do, it feels like something else pops up the next day to worry about. Whether you are a college student, parent, young adult battling the real world for the first time, or just a really stressed out mess, here are some ways that can help you get a good start on relieving and dealing with built up stress.

1. Talk it out

Talking out what it is that is on your mind or causing you stress feels like a giant weight being lifted off your shoulders. It might not get rid of your stress but it starts the process.

2. Work on your to-do list

To-do lists can sometimes be scary and overwhelming but the feeling you have after you get to throw that little piece of paper away is definitely rewarding.

3. Do your favorite hobby

Hobbies are meant to be fun and make you feel happy. Either writing, reading, crafting, or singing, try making this time for yourself daily. This will hopefully stop stressful thoughts from reoccurring.

4. Focus on what needs to get done now

Sometimes the list that needs to get done never seems to stop growing. So try and only focus on what needs to get done today that develops a stress-free tomorrow. These baby steps will make the process go on easier.

5. Spend the day or night with friends

Whether they are your best friends, siblings, roommates, or just the girl you talk to in English class, if they make you feel happy and less distracted, spend as much time as you can with them. They might need you just as much as you need them.

6. Go to the gym

Going to the gym is almost as good as punching that stupid pillow on your bed a thousand times. Burning off any extra energy helps a lot and even makes you more motivated now that all the pent-up emotions were finally released.

7. Listen to uplifting music throughout the day

There is nothing better than finding the album that gets you feeling good about yourself and makes you ready to take on the day. If need be, put it on repeat while working on your less-than-exciting errands.

8. Spa night

At the end of the day everyone, guys and girls, like to have a little pampering. Massages, fresh nails, or just simply putting on a face mask while eating pizza and watching Netflix. Find your ideal spa night and treat yourself once in a while.

9. Sleep

If you do not get enough sleep, your body will want to shut down. Make sure you get the appropriate amount of sleep every night in order to take on the next day strong.

10. Drinking tea

Drinking something that doesn't have loads of sugar or caffeine can be very relaxing after a testing day, especially with fluffy slippers and pajama pants on.

11. Letting it out

Even if you don't want to, sometimes just sitting by yourself, having a good cry can let out all of those pent-up emotions.

Always remember to relieve any stress you have, no matter who, what, or where it comes from. Find the way that helps you unwind, whether it is one of these ideas or something you discover on your own. Nothing good will ever come from holding in too much.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
