9 Easy Ways To Take Care Of Your Planet

April is Earth Month, and the 22nd is Earth Day! You don't have to go vegan or sell your car to help protect our environment. Here are easy little things you can be doing to show love to our planet and its creatures :)

1. Buy experiences instead of stuff

So many material things become wasted junk eventually ending up in a landfill or storage unit. Instead, opt to buy yourself and your friends tickets to a concert or a coupon for a massage!

2. Get your food from local stores and restaurants

There are sooo many locally grown cafes and markets around Columbus. This decreases the transportation of the food and means less packaging!

3. Don't keep the water running while brushing your teeth

Such an easy way to save water!

4. Use reusable straws

Plastic straws are one of the worst things for the environment. Buy reusable stainless steel straws from Amazon instead!

5. Try meatless Mondays or vegan lunches

You don't have to completely cut out meat and dairy from your diet-- even skipping animal products for a couple meals a week makes a big difference!

6. Unplug your charger when you're not using it

This is one that I am often guilty of, but is such a simple way to save energy.

7. Skip the plastic bag and the plastic water bottle

Bring a reusable bag to the grocery store instead and always use a reusable water bottle!

8. Use cruise control

This improves your mileage by at least 15%! Saves you money from buying gas and helps protect our Earth.

9. Know what to recycle

Always recycle glass bottles, aluminum cans, and paper-- but also remember that in Columbus you can recycle the sleeve of your coffee cup but not the cup :)

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
