Minimalism isn't about owning the least amount of things or getting rid of things in a short amount of time. Everyone can de-clutter their lives the way they want. I choose to do objects so that I'm focusing less on the things I have and more on my value of life, while still getting rid of things that don't serve me anymore. This process shouldn't be stressful. If it gets stressful, make a "maybe" pile to go through after you finish decluttering. Try this and see if it makes a difference for your life like it did mine. We only need what we love and what adds value to our lives!

Old ripped, stained towels/wash cloths

We keep old towels and rags for anticipated messes we will use them for, but like myself I don't like using these items at all so they just sit in my linen closet.

Clothes I haven't worn in 6 months

I am a person who buys trend or things for my fantasy self. What I mean by fantasy self is someone that I want to look like, but don't even wear the clothes because they don't look right on me or they are too comfortable. Promo shirts are also something I have realized I collected, which UK gives out a lot of free shirts that I never intend on wearing anyways. It's just the idea of getting something for free. Old jeans that I can't fit into but someday hope that I can are something that I hold onto.

Old or uncomfortable shoes

Shoes that have lost their soles or don't support my feet are something I hold onto, just because it's "cool" to have so many shoes. I even still have the shoes I wore to prom that I will never wear again.

Expired or unused makeup

I find myself keeping samples from stores or eye shadow pallets that are way past their expiration date in my makeup drawer. Maybe for the aesthetic of it being name brand, I'm not sure.

Expired hair products

I have become a "product junkie" it seems, especially because my hair is growing back so I'm trying to figure out my hair again. When I realize a product doesn't work well for my hair the first few uses, I just never use it again and let it sit under the bathroom sink. Which you can return items like these to beauty stores, but sometimes it seems embarrassing to return something.

Mismatched or excess amount of hangers

I'm guilty of this. I have white, black, and blue hangers. The reason I want to just use one color is so that it looks more organized. As well as hangers that you keep to put new clothes on, just to fill up your closet.

Expired foods

expired food

This is for sure something I want to pay more attention to because we waste lots of expired foods. The food is either tucked away in a cabinet or condiments in the fridge.

Old bras that don't fit

I usually donate them but you can also go to Aerie and get 10% off a new bra when you bring in an old bra (don't quote me on it). As well as don't them to the Hope Center here in Lexington, KY.

Sentimental memorabilia

old trophies

This could be old ticket stubs, childhood artwork, or even old greeting cards. Some things we just keep for no reason. Or greeting cards that you get from the same people every year.

 Dead plants

Plants that you think are going to grow back but never will.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
