10 Easy Last-Minute Gift Ideas

10 Easy Last-Minute Gift Ideas

Less than 15 days 'til Christmas, but don't panic about your Christmas shopping. I've found gifts last minute year after year that have never failed to please.

1. Gift cards

It's like free money for them; even better when it's for a stores they often shop at, or restaurants they like.

2. Small gift sets

Sometimes, you can find them pre-made, but I like to get the small things and make them myself. Anything from cozy socks, nail polish, lotion, sprays, and chocolates for ladies to body wash, beef jerky, plain tees, and car-detailing stuff for men.

3. Travel cups or mugs

Because we all know that one family member that just has to take a drink with them every where they go. You can find these for pretty cheap at Walmart or Walgreens, or you can find really nice ones at places like Target and World Market. Either way, they're easy and usable.

4. Bath and shower necessities

I mean, we all take showers, it's nice to remember when we forgot that we ran out of body wash after our last shower that someone gave us some for Christmas and we don't have to go buy some.

5. Scarves and leggings

Pinterest kind of speaks for itself here when you click on "women's fashion" and every outfit contains one of the two or both.

6. House decorations or other home goods

Maybe they're really into one theme in their living room and you just so happen to come across yet another accent they can add to that room. It says you care enough to remember how they like to decorate their living space. I recommend Home Goods, they've got all their themes organized for a quick and easy find.

7. Tech accessories

We all know that one person who always loses their headphones and flies through phone chargers. A nice phone case or iPad cover isn't a bad idea either.

8. Planners and calendars

Everyone's busy nowadays, so why not help them organize themselves? My personal favorites are those desk calendars you can rip off each day, especially the funny jokes, trivia, and e-cards ones.

9. Picture frame and photo

Whether it's one, really nice photo and frame or it's a collage, this gift says personalized to the recipient but says quick and easy on your end.

10. Netflix subscription

Open the account in their name and set an amount of months that you'll pay. They'll get hooked and then they'll take over the payments, or they might binge watch everything in that time frame and then choose not to keep it. Either way, you gave them a gift they used.

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
