13 Costume Ideas For The Girl Who's Spooked About Spending Money This Halloween

October is just a few weeks away, which means Halloween is just around the corner. As someone who LOVES Halloween, I am always thinking of costume ideas. Of course, sometimes people don't want to (or can't) spend much time or money on a costume. This list provides an array of options for anyone looking for costume inspiration. In my experience, Walmart and dollar stores are one of the best places to look for cheap costumes that can be put together quickly. Halloween stores can be pricey, but they are likely to have almost everything you need. Whether you're just looking for costume ideas or trying to put together a last-minute Halloween costume, this list is for you.

The Jellyfish

A jellyfish costume is seemingly easy to put together. All you need is an umbrella, streamers, and an outfit of your choosing. You can hang the streamers from the umbrella, or you can also string lights along the umbrella if you're up for it. I suggest a clear umbrella, but obviously the costume is the creator's preference.

Porcelain Doll

You could put together a "new" porcelain doll costume with a nice dress and cute makeup. Or you can put together an old, "haunted" porcelain doll with a worn dress and cracks painted on your face. This one seems simple enough!

Zombie

All you need to dress as a zombie is tattered clothing, messy hair, and makeup. It's the basic zombie look, but you could also get fake lacerations from any Halloween store. You can make it as basic or exotic as you please!

The Purge

Dressing as a classic The Purge character is as easy as a mask that you can get at any Halloween store and an outfit of your choosing, with the option of a weapon like a bat. I have also seen people play The Purge announcement on a portable speaker. This costume is extremely quick and efficient.

Jigsaw

Jigsaw is a great last minute costume. All you need is a white shirt, black blazer, and black, red, and white face paint. Quick and easy!

Deer

You can buy an antler headband, buy or put together a flower crown, or wear no headgear. White or brown clothing and face paint will tie the entire look together!

Devil

Devil horns and a tail can be found at Walmart, Amazon, or any store that sells Halloween costumes. A red dress would be the perfect core to this costume!

Vampire

You can purchase vampire teeth, a red or black cape from any Halloween store, at Walmart, or on Amazon. You can wear a dark-colored outfit with a little bit of eyeliner, and voila!

Scarecrow

All you need is a tattered hat, a plaid flannel shirt, a pair of jeans or overalls, and some scarecrow face paint!

Red Riding Hood

All you need is a red cape, red shoes, and any dress with white. You can dress it up or keep it as minimal as you want! The red shoes and white dress are items that you will likely be able to find at a thrift store, while a red cape can be found at any Walmart.

The Wolf

Perfect for a couple costume with Red Riding Hood! You can find wolf ears and a tail at any Halloween store, at Walmart, or on Amazon. The wolf ears and tail are easily matched with a plaid flannel shirt and a pair of jeans!

Bunny

One classic Halloween costume is the bunny. It's as simple as bunny ears and a tail tied together with the outfit of your choosing!

Cat

Finally, the classic cat costume. You can get a pair of cat ears and a tail at almost any discount or dollar store. With a little makeup and the perfect cat outfit, this is a quick and easy costume!

Airports

Because the best part of flying isn't the flying.

I’m not sure that many would consider their airport experience to be “fun.” It is either boredom or panic, layovers so long that you forget what the outside world looks like or connections that are made by the skin of your teeth. It is the decision between buying expensive food and starving; it is hunting for outlets (because the airports I’ve been in seem to have about five); it is the stress of making it through security without being that person who holds up everyone else. In short, it is stressful and time-consuming.

New millennial jargon seems to arise everyday, one of the newest being “daddy." While people have always said things like “sugar daddy" or “come to daddy" (which sounds a tad creepy to me...okay, a lot creepy), now just referring to an attractive man or one's boyfriend/husband as simply “daddy" has become the norm. *Gag*

Clarity To Confusion

How I lost my certainty of the future.

Clarity To Confusion

Last year, I knew exactly what I would be doing with my life. Not just what major I wanted, although, I did know exactly what I was going to major in during college. I went further, though, and knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. I aimed to be a book editor and use my French and English majors to go into technical editing after going to grad school. Yet this semester, disenchantment hit. I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life anymore. I still loved the idea of being a book editor. I still loved reading. I just couldn't feel any passion towards the courses I had to take this semester. They were amazing, but they didn't excite me the way courses I would love should. They didn't inspire feelings of amazement at how awesome my major is. It was then I realized maybe my major wasn't for me.

The Procrastination Station At College
Achieve Center - Wendy Loewen

In high school, being a procrastinator wasn't that big of a deal in my own opinion. But coming from a school that didn't really have strict deadlines on things, meaning you basically got points for turning it in be it exactly on or before the deadline, or 4 weeks later when you realize your grade needs to be raised up. So, when I came to college, I knew it would be different. It hasn't really been hard transitioning into a good student when it comes to out of class work and projects, but it hasn't been that easy either. I will use myself for example. I am enrolled in Introduction to Public Speaking, and it's not that is a hard class, because it isn't, but I just get lost in other things and before I knew it, I had to present a persuasive speech the next day. I also realized this at about 11:15 the night before, and had about half of my outlines done, and my visual aid hadn't been started on. Though I got it done, I promised myself that I would not ever just wait until the last minute with specifically this class, but with any other class also. After that little dilemma, I decided to look for ways that I could get things done in a timely manner. So, here I have listed a few things that I now use in order to get things done before the deadline so that I do not have to rush and worry about it the night before:
