Easter and April Fool's Day, are both celebrated on the same day, April 1st, 2018.

Every year, people in the U.S. put on their best Easter church outfit and head to their sunrise service. Sunrise service is usually held at some Protestant churches where they worship, dance and praise Jesus Christ beginning at six a.m. until sunrise.

Others have an Easter egg hunt for the kids and tell tales about the infamous Easter Bunny.

And as for April Fools, the holiday is a day where jokes are allowed, without any repercussions.

It seems like people do not know what they're getting themselves into. Why every year we all have to join the bandwagon and celebrate such holidays?

According to Time Magazine, The Top 10 Things You Didn't Know About Easter, gives an idea of what people from all over the world do. From celebrating the Easter bunny, who is the spring goddess of fertility, baking hot cross buns with white crosses to represent Christ suffering, having weeks long revivals and fasting in Ethiopia, and the burning of Judas ceremonies in Latin America, Easter is celebrated in multiple ways.

Wait. Before anyone decides to do anything like everyone else, take these steps into consideration.

1. Ask yourself, are you really sacrificing the day for a great cause or what you believe in?

Yes, many Protestants believed that Easter is the day that we should remember how Christ died for our sins, but does Christ want everyone to honor his death within one day?

Let me remind you of those who go to sunrise service that you are worshiping the sun. According to biblicalfulfillment.org, Paul explains in Colossians 2:8-10 how Christians should not abide by any deceptive philosophy.

Christ should be adored daily. It should not be where everyone should over exert the fact of who Christ is and why he died all in one day because surely others who are not Protestant does the same thing.

For instance, those who celebrate the Day of the Dead in Latin American countries honor their past loved ones by preparing meals and throwing huge parties. Seems similar?

Anything that your faith or family does, challenge it, research and questions before accepting anything. You alone are responsible for what you believe to be true.

2. And really, enough with the candy.

Come on now. The Easter bunny has similarities when it come to passing out candy on Valentine's Day, Halloween, and Christmas.

Your teeth would appreciate if you didn't give it any cavities.

Plus, everyone would save a lot of money by not giving it all away to large corporations to make money.

Holidays are corporations best times to produce plenty of revenue. In 2016, $823 million in creme-filled eggs, chocolate rabbits and colored marshmallow Peeps were spent according to Nielsen data from cnbc.com.

Holidays are for chumps.

Do your own thing.

Live beyond the traditional standard.

Seek what is for you, and the truth will reveal to you.

And for those who celebrate April Fool's Day, and who are Protestant, be aware because those white lies are lies!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
