Growing up in East Islip meant some of the most addictive restaurants. Casual, fast food, dine in, or take out: In the neighboring towns of Islip Terrace and Islip, cravings were on every street. Call up your friends. You're gonna want to go get dinner after reading this!

1. Gios Pizza

Every classroom party or club pizza sale filled the halls with the deliciously familiar smell of melted cheese and sauce. Your mouth would already be watering when you handed over your 2 dollars to the club adviser.

2. Bubba's Burrito Bar

The Brotato. The Guilt Trip. The MASSIVE Burritos probably had you sick before you finished yours, and you loved every second of it. It was totally worth the two hour wait and fifty phone calls (until you got a car and realized it was ten times faster to just go pick it up yourself).

3. Friendly's

Not a local business, but in middle school this was the place to go. Looking back now I am not sure why we felt so cool.

4. O-co-nee Diner

If you lived here, it was only referred to as "the diner" or "Oconee." It was the place where you saw your teachers after concerts, or met up for late night appetizer runs.

5. Chicken Bacon Bomber

You probably had the deli who you swore made it "the best." You definitely knew somebody who ran to the BT Express Deli down the road from the High School in between classes.

6. Stanley's Bakery

Everybody has a sweet tooth! Whether it be your morning doughnuts, or a birthday cake, Stanley was the place to get your fix.

7. Irish Coffee Pub

One of the gems of East Islip. Special events are extra delicious when you celebrate here!

8. Taco Bell

We will wait on line at midnight for food just to feel sick after...and repeat every weekend....

9. Jackson Hall

Have you tried their mac and cheese? Go. Try. It. Right now.

10. Hometown Cafe

The dining area may be small, but the portion sizes aren't. Plus you will always find a regular sitting around chatting, making the atmosphere all about community.

11. ALL THE ITALIAN

Since writing Gio's, I just kept thinking about TONS of pizza places like Mary's, Pizza Parm, Francesco's and Mulberry Street. You can order a full Italian dinner, or your favorite specialty pie and NEVER be disappointed. What's not to love about melted cheese and pasta?

I think it is time for dinner! Where will you be ordering from tonight?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
