With Christmas around the corner, I have mixed thoughts and feelings about the holidays. Sometimes I'm happy and excited about gingerbread cookies and candy canes, but other times I'm terrified of the never-ending Christmas music on the radio.

Dwight Schrute, the coolest, yet the most unique character of the American TV Show The Office, tends to capture all of my emotions towards Christmas. Here are ten times Mr. Schrute himself expressed my feelings towards a sometimes overwhelming holiday:

1. When the radio plays Christmas songs before Thanksgiving Day.

There's nothing more frustrating that hearing Christmas music when it's not even December. I'm sorry, but there is such thing as "too soon" for Christmas cheer.

2. When I'm psyched for presents from friends and family!

Giphy

Let's all admit it, thinking about our future Christmas gifts gets all of us psyched about the holidays. I've never wasted more time than the time I spent imagining what gifts I will wake up to on the morning of December 25th.

3. When I'm committed to "staying healthy" and only eating a few delicious Christmas cookies (but they look so good).

Giphy

Despite my efforts to resist the tasty, sugary miracles that are Christmas cookies, I can never truly hold out. There's nothing better than the cookies made for Santa if you can snag a few for yourself. Screw "staying healthy," you can stick to that as a resolution when New Year's comes around.

4. When I'm licking the utensils before the gingerbread cookies are finished baking.

Giphy

I'm obviously obsessed with gingerbread, in case you hadn't noticed yet. My favorite part of the holidays is baking cookies and gingerbread just because it's tradition. I swear I always lick the utensils before the baking is done, but I think we can all relate to that.

5. When I'm ready for any gift-hunting challenges that come my way.

Giphy

Every damn year, my friends make it harder and harder to find the perfect Christmas gifts for them. Sometimes, it's a little discouraging and I worry about the future state of my bank account.

Other times, I must get a rush of Christmas spirit that prepares me for any gifting challenge. Not to mention the challenge of wrapping the gifts themselves.

6. When I'm preparing my thank you speech for the best gift I receive.

Giphy

Tearing into presents on Christmas day is super fun, but it can be a little awkward when your friends and family are secretly competing against each other. You might not know because they never talk about it, but I promise a couple of your gift-givers are subconsciously hoping they got you the best gift. That's why you have to have a perfectly rehearsed thank you speech for each and everyone person. They have to come out even or you might have a family tussle on your hands.

7. When I'm watching my bank account decline at an exponential rate after purchasing so many Christmas gifts.

Giphy

If you're always trying to out-gift your friends like me, you can relate to the feeling of dread as you watch your bank account slowly drain. As December creeps on, it only seems to get worse. Suddenly, more and more names pop up on your list and before you know it, your bank account is in the negatives.

8. When it's Christmas Eve and I've had a little too much eggnog.

Giphy

It's hard not to get excited for Christmas when your eggnog is spiked, am I right?

Christmas Eve is almost more exciting than Christmas Day because of all the anticipation, especially when you've had something Christmasy to drink.

9. When I'm forcing my friends to come to a Christmas party with me.

Giphy

Yes, Christmas parties are fun. No, I'm not going to a Christmas party by myself.

10. When I'm fighting with random people over the best gift in the store.

Giphy

We've all been there. It's a moment of pressure, stress, and unnecessary drama. If you're fighting or you've ever fought someone over a Christmas gift, you're probably a really good friend or family member and I wish you good luck. Be careful, it's tough out there.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
