9 Things I'm Going To Do During Spring Break

I really needed this.

Spring Break is finally here! I remember looking at my schedule before the semester started and wondering to myself "Why is spring break so early?" Now as it quickly approaches I can see why. My body is sore, my thoughts are jumbled, and I can't seem to ever get enough sleep. I have contracted the Spring Break Slump!

Basically, my body has already checked out and went on vacation but I still have a full plate of work before break officially starts! In preparation for a good break, I have put together a list of all the things I want to accomplish while I'm home.

1. Eat my actual body weight.

Due to my ADHD medication, full school workload, clubs, and an internship, I feel like I have barely been eating to keep up with my busy life. Sure, my pants might be sagging a bit but I would trade it for some good food. I will be indulging in as many restaurants I am devoid of here in Southwest Virginia and truly savor them.

2. Take a bath.

Anyone who knows me or follows me on any form of social media knows I love baths. In fact, if it was humanly possible I would LIVE in a bath. When you're stuck with a low water pressure dorm shower, coming home and taking a nice 2-hour bath is all I need to make me feel good.

3. Catching up with my friends.

I am a really good texter, but sometimes when I'm so busy I completely blank on responding back to people. Bad excuse, but it happens. On break, I plan on meeting up with as many people as I can and actually talking about stuff that isn't school.

4. Play with my dog.

A week ago, my pug Sluggo had to get a tumor removed. It put me in a really bad mood especially since my last dog died suddenly while I was away at school. Even though he survived and is doing well (YAY!), I still want to appreciate him as much as I can. A health scare, especially for your dog, really puts it in perspective how much you love them!

5. Sleep in my own bed.

Your girl likes to sprawl out like a starfish and roll around every night. Do you know where you can't do that? A twin bed. As soon as I get home I am going to appreciate my bed my ability to roll as much as my heart desires.

6. Watch TV on TV.

To whoever invented on demand and recording tv programs: thank you. Just the way my schedule is now, I don't really ever get to watch live tv even if I did have the time for it (which I rarely ever do). So I plan on spending as much time as needed rotting my brain for a little bit.

7. See an art film.

I love seeing foreign and art films. But unfortunately, due to my school's location, there isn't a massive demand for them. I'm going to see as many art films as possible before going back to school so I can get my fill. Plus, I really love popcorn. Win/win.

8. Go to Whole Foods.

Some of the world's smallest pleasures in life for me come from going to Whole Foods. Does that make me a stereotype? Yeah, probably but I'm okay with that. From the natural cosmetics aisle to the bakery, to all the weird exotic fruits, I am always intrigued by what I find there. Plus, the one by my house has a built-in fish market that makes some of the best fried shrimp I've ever had!

9. Relax.

It's break, I need to enjoy some me time! No tests, internships, homework, or stresses for a week. Enjoy it.

Happy Spring Break!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
