These four (or five) undergraduate years are precious. Your experiences and relationships from this period of your life play an integral part in shaping your personality, goals, and values that you will carry with you for the rest of your life. You’re going to create amazing memories, but that doesn’t come without some moments and decisions that you aren’t too proud of. And that’s totally OKAY. It’s all part of the college experience!
Get these crazy impulses out of your system! You don’t want to look back and regret not taking advantage of how much freedom you have as a college student. Pretty much anything is acceptable in college, so go forth and do everything. Go kiss a stranger at a party. Take a nap in the middle of the day. Skip class and have brunch with your friends. Drink with breakfast….and then again with dinner. Have a crazy night out that you don’t quite remember. It’s all good!
The vast majority of any mistakes you make during these few years have repercussions that are much easier to bounce back from than you’ll face in the future. If you’re planning on passing up a night out with the squad because you’re afraid you won’t wake up on time the next day, JUST GO! Set some extra alarms. Still iffy? Think about this. If you go out Thursday night, oversleep and miss class, you’ll probably be docked some attendance points. If you were to turn around and do the same at work, your boss will always remember you as the person who didn’t show up and didn’t give him a warning. Yikes. So go ahead and do dumb things with your friends. It’s REALLY not the end of the world, for now.
When you’re about to walk across the stage and grab your diploma, you’re not going to remember the riveting lecture your finance professor gave about the time value of money. You’re going to remember having the time of your life, with the best people, doing the weirdest things. Seize every opportunity to create crazy and memorable moments with your friends. After graduation, life gets serious and everyone will be spread out across the globe. Make the most of your undergraduate experience, you’ll cherish it for the rest of your life.
