I'm A Dude And I Stand With Planned Parenthood

Aren't we all tired of old white dudes telling us what to do?

I'm A Dude And I Stand With Planned Parenthood

Ever since Roe v. Wade happened in 1973 there has been a huge debate in this country over abortion rights. Which, to be honest, is actually ridiculous. This week in Congress, there was a vote to decide whether or not the government should continue funding Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood is the single largest provider of reproductive health services in the nation. It provides free health care to women. Some of the services that it provides are birth control, contraception, breast and cervical cancer screenings, and of course abortion. Republicans are caught up with this one aspect of this organization: that they provide abortions to women. Are white Republican males the ones who are getting abortions? No, so why should they have the power to make that decision? Let the record show that abortions only account for 3 percent of the total services provided by Planned Parenthood.

It is so absurd that people would want to refund this organization just because 3 percent of the time, someone gets an abortion. There are so many other services that Planned Parenthood provides, so it makes no sense for us to say "no, we shall not fund you."

Now some women will have no where to go when they need to get a mammogram or when she needs birth control, or when male needs a vasectomy. Maybe this is why so many white dudes in our government have their thongs in a bunch over PP. Probably because their wives say to them "Hey, please don't have a baby with a hooker, have this vasectomy."

This abortion debate has left this nation divided between pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-life advocates have terrorized Planned Parenthood facilities across the nation, yet no pro-choice advocates have gone against churches and the meeting places of those that are pro-life. This topic has been contested and debated for a long time and each side believes they are right.

I, personally, am obviously pro-choice. I really think that pro-life people do have very valid arguments, but I just really think that they are very outdated. People, especially women, should not be told what to do with their bodies. They should not be told this by the government especially. Next, the government is going to be mandating how we breath and it will start a whole other conundrum.

I don't know about you, but I am pretty f*cking tired of old white dudes telling us right from wrong. This decision that was made in Congress a few days ago is really one that is important for the future of women's rights, and the future of this country.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
