Let me just begin by saying how AMAZING it is to be a Horned Frog! Not only do we get to cheer on a nationally recognized football team (AP Poll Ranked #6, to be exact) but we also get to look our best while doing so!
Ladies, if you’re anything like me, you look forward to getting ready for Game Day all week, and you spend a certain amount of shopping time particularly looking for Game Day dresses throughout the year. There’s definitely a certain satisfaction that cannot be fully explained when you find "The Perfect Purple Dress," am I right?! Therefore, dressing for Game Day is serious business and we want to make sure we look our best. But as the football season begins to reach its highest point, the temperatures begin to drop. As a result, our Game Day attire must also acclimate; what you wore to the 2:30 game against Minnesota will most certainly not be acceptable for this week’s 6:30 game against Kansas State, unless you have a desire to freeze to death (and if that’s the case, you should probably reconsider). But, have no fear! Not only do I love dressing for cooler weather almost as much as I love being a Horned Frog, but I also love sharing my opinions about fashion (and really anything else, for that matter…).
Most importantly, the Game Day theme for this weekend is “Blackout,” which is a blessing in more ways than one. Not only does that mean everyone in the stadium will be matching in fashion’s most timeless shade, but it also opens up the opportunities for outfits immensely! Personally, I love the monochromatic trend that has been all over the runways for the past year or so. What better way to work this trend than by pairing black skinny jeans with a black blouse, and accessorizing with purple or black jewelry? I can guarantee you will look spirited, chic and, not to mention, even more wonderful than usual (black is the most flattering color, after all) while cheering on your beloved Horned Frogs! Bonus points if you have black cowboy boots! Alternatively, you could also pair a long-sleeved black sundress with a fabulous fur vest and cowboy boots; you’ll be warm, stylish and get to rock one of the season’s most statement trends!
In reality, it’s quite difficult to go wrong while wearing black, which is one of the many reasons why it’s one of my favorite colors for fashion purposes. The best piece of advice I can leave you with is to be sure to layer up, because it’s going to get quite chilly toward the end of the evening, especially after you’ve left the crowded student section at the end of the fourth quarter! “One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress.” – Karl Lagerfeld
