I enjoy travelling and this world has countless amazing places to see, each of them unique and beautiful in their own ways. I have travelled to a variety of different places, the Czech Republic, Israel, Mexico, Thailand, Bahamas, Barbados, and all over the United States. There are still many places I want to visit in the future. One place I have dreamed of visiting for a long time is New Zealand.
New Zealand has a unique landscape, it has mountains bigger than I have ever seen, and vast wide open natural lands. As many of you probably know, Lord of the Rings was filmed in New Zealand and you can still visit the Hobbiton there, I would love to visit the Hobbiton. But there are other reasons I want to visit New Zealand too, I love the New Zealand accent by the way, but the biggest reason I want to go there is the wildlife.
New Zealand has a wide variety of unique wildlife. They have marine animals like whales, dolphins and seals. I have never seen a whale, it would be amazing to see one! They also have their national and elusive bird the kiwi. They have a wide variety of other animals as well, but the one I am most excited to see is penguins.
Ever since I was a baby, I loved penguins, they are my absolute favorite animal. I have seen penguins in zoos and that has been great, but I have not yet seen them in the wild, in their natural habitats. Penguins only live in the southern hemisphere, and I have never been south of the equator.
The South Island of New Zealand is home to a few different colonies and species of wild penguin. It is home to the smallest species of penguin, the little blue penguin. They are very small and cute, only weighing about three pounds. It is a favorite event for locals and tourists to watch the penguins as they march back to their nests at night after a long day fishing at sea. I
t is my dream to see this event and see these beautiful creatures for myself. It’s one thing to see animals in a zoo or on the TV but when you encounter them for yourself in the wild, it is an unforgettable experience.
Besides the little blue penguins, New Zealand is also home to two other species of penguins the yellow-eyed penguin and the Fiordland crested penguin, both of which are some of the rarer species of penguin. The South Island of New Zealand is far more mild than travelling to Antarctica to see penguins so I think it would be a great alternative, a way to see them for myself while experiencing the natural beauty and unique culture of New Zealand.
Forget about the expenses, what is one place you would love to visit and why? This world is vast and beautiful with so much to see. Nearly every place has unique wildlife, culture, food, etc. From my experience, no two places are alike. So, go ahead, dream. Where would you like to travel? What would you like to experience? I would love to hear about your dreams too, so feel free to comment.
