Now you would think that movie theater etiquette would be common sense but it seems to be a lost form in 2015. With that being said, here are the DO's and DON'TS on what to do when seeing a movie at the theater. Get your pen and paper ready because class is about to begin:
DO: Go with family and friends! There is nothing that can bring a group of people together like a movie wether you are laughing, crying, rooting for the hero or plotting against the villain. I wouldn't recommend the movies for a first date though.. been there, done that and it's just awkward. Can I get an Amen?
DON'T: Chew loudly or with your mouth open! Go ahead and stuff your face with all the popcorn you can but do it quietly! People came to hear the movie, not you smacking your food!
DO: Get excited about new movies! One of the best parts of going to the movies is the previews! Plan what movies you want to go see next and which ones you will wait to see until they are on Netflix.
DON’T: Check your phone FOR ANY REASON! All those mini previews before the movie that tell you to silence your phone, don’t apply to everyone except you! There is nothing more annoying when you’re getting really into a movie and you can see a bright light out of the corner of your eye. MOMENT= RUINED.
DO: Clean up after yourself! The staff will really appreciate it and just pretend you are at your house! Would you leave your half eaten popcorn out when you’re done watching the movie? I don’t think so!
DON’T: Kick the chair in front of you! It’s so incredibly rude and you will have a very unhappy person in front of you. VERY. UNHAPPY.
DO: Have FUN! Movies are an experience unlike anything else. Immerse yourself in the film and take a break from the real world for a bit.
And those are the simple DO’s and DON’Ts of movie etiquette 101! With these helpful tips, you’re sure to make the movie experience a lot more enjoyable for you and everyone else around you.
