Hey guys!

For this week's article, I wanted to focus on what it's like to live in Taylor Place, the dorms on ASU's Downtown Phoenix campus, and to give you a few basic ideas of the rules you should follow here.

Do: Feel free to use the lounges on the floor you live in/visit other lounges.

It's a great way to get out of the dorm for a bit and to meet other people!

Don't: Talk loudly in the lounge after quiet hours start.

Other people live here and have their own busy schedules that are most likely different than yours, so it's best to be respectful and to keep things quiet once quiet hours start.

Do: Feel free to use the elevators to go in between floors.

It's a big building, so it's okay to use the elevators.

Don't: Press every single button in the elevator.

There are flights of stairs that connect two floors to each other. For example, I live on the 12th floor, and there are stairs that connect the 12th and 14th floors. So, if someone as already pressed the button going to the 14th floor, I shouldn't also push the button for the 12th floor.

Do: Have fun watching the TV in the lounges.

It's fun to watch a mindless TV show while you're doing homework, the news, a movie after a long day, or even a weekend sports game!

Don't: Get territorial over the TV if someone wants to change the channel.

Remember - you're living in a building that houses 1,100 other people, so sharing resources has to happen.

Do: Have fun living on your floor.

In Taylor Place, the floors are paired by which school you attend, so it's a fun way to be around the people you're going to be seeing the most often over the next four years!

Don't: Make fun of other floors.

It's okay to have pride in your school and the floor you live on, but picking on other floors is unnecessary. Honestly, just don't do it, it's dumb.

Do: Keep in mind that the fire alarm sounds like a WW2 bomb siren.

It caught me and a lot of other people really off guard as to what was going on.

Don't: Be like me and freak out thinking that the end of the world was upon us.

True story, and admittedly not my best move.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
