Locked up and shutting out the world to do homework is not the move.

Trapping yourself in your dorm room all the time to do homework isn't the best

Locked up and shutting out the world to do homework is not the move.

College is a constant battle between social life and homework. The hardest part of college (at least for me) is definitely time management and balancing everything properly. Many college students believe a simple way to solve this issue is to lock yourself in your dorm room and stay there until all your homework is done. This method, though it works for some people, is not the move if you want to get the best out of your college career. I'm not saying that putting all your homework off is a good idea, but I am saying that going to new locations to do homework is more beneficial than detrimental.

Doing homework in a lounge or library or outside at a table opens the door for greater opportunities. If you are locked in your dorm room, you limit the opportunities to meet new people and study in different environments. If you go outside or to the library or to a lounge, then you allow yourself to meet other people. Not only is meeting other people a good thing but you could form new friendships that could last a long time or meet someone that could help you with other classes you may be taking and struggling with.

Allowing yourself to escape the captivity of a dorm room allows your dorm room to become a space of relaxation rather than a place you always do homework at. Getting outside allows for an increased mood because it limits the fear of missing out that you may experience if you were always in your dorm room.

Not only is leaving your dorm room beneficial to you as a student but being okay with some procrastination allows for more opportunities. Don't always say no when offered an opportunity to get out and socialize. Sometimes it is okay to put off homework a couple of hours. You will be able to get it done, but you will have also made new memories.

Homework is something that becomes a huge deal In college, but if you learn how to handle it you will be okay in the end. I promise.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
