If you know anything about me, I have a million complaints about living in a dorm. I don't know if it's because I'm a really picky bitch and also don't like being told what to do, or if it's because there really is a lot of BS about living in a dorm. Here are a couple reasons that living in a dorm is one of the most annoying things ever.
RAs... I'm still confused what their job is.
This might differ depending on who you are, but my experience with RAs is not all that great. For example, my roommate and I got into a fight, and the only thing my RA did was stand there as we yelled at the top of our lungs. Example two, my friend had the great experience of having her room searched this weekend, and because her roommate had candles and alcohol, she will be getting in trouble because, as the RA told her, "She should've snitched on her roommate." Great solution, RA! Now they can live together and hate each other the rest of the semester. Also, RAs are supposed to shut people up during quiet hours. But in reality, they are just as annoyed that we texted them to ask if they would shut people up.
They tell us we are adults, but we have like three rights.
Honestly, I'm blanking on what rights I even have living in my dorm because I swear every time I breathe, an RA or another Residence Life authority is ready to get mad at something I do.
Dealing with other students that don't know how to act their age.
For example, I live in the same dorm as people who think it is OK to blast music at 11 p.m. on a school night and then get upset if you ask them to turn it down. There are somehow people who don't bathe regularly. And, someone pooped in our communal shower (yes, this happened).
Roommates
Just no. Please leave.
We are adults but cannot have the opposite sex over at night.
This just depends on who you are. I have guy friends that I hang out with, and I'm too lazy to check them out, so we all crash in each other's rooms sometimes...
There are honestly a thousand other reasons why I can't stand living in dorms. But, again, I have to live in here for six more weeks. So I will stop while I'm ahead.
