Everyone knows how drab the plain wood door leading into your temporary home can be. You spend hours trying to make the inside feel 'home-y', so why not try to exert some of that same finesse onto the outside of your room? You will be amazed at how much fun the activity can be, and how much it brightens your mood when you enter and leave your room. Here are several dorm decoration ideas for the lazy, cheap, and creative people. These crafts will keep your room festive this holiday season.

1. A Turkey Door.

I completed this one myself this year and although it wasn't as advertised on Pinterest, it still turned out pretty cute. I used felt instead of paper and halves of a Styrofoam ball for the eyes. The total project cost me an hour and $10. This example is made completely of paper.

2. Specific Holiday Themed Characters.

If it is around the Christmas and winter holiday season when you finally get around to decorate your dorm door, think about making it into a snowman, santa or even a gingerbread man. Get super festive and create a winter themed scene, Snoopy's red house or a quote from your favorite Christmas movie or cartoon.

3. The 'less than $5' section at Target.

If you have not yet discovered the amazing section of every Target that houses a plethora of useless and CHEAP decorations you need to go there immediately. I picked up a set on winter-themed window clings that stick to our wood door. This is the perfect cheap, and lazy solution to having a festive door. The window clings cost me $2 and took less than 5 minutes to assemble. This section also has cute signs, cheap rolls of wrapping paper and stockings that you can make into a themed display.

4. A Gift.

This is super easy and relatively cheap as well. Pick up a roll (or two) of wrapping paper and attach it to your door. It's really that easy. Try adding ribbon or paper fashioned as a bow for an extra craft touch.

5. A String of Lights.

The drab brown backdrop that is your dorm door creates the perfect "side of a house" effect. Use paper and string to create a line of lights to attach to your door. This is pretty cheap and even free if your resident assistant can hook you up with a pack of construction paper.

Everyone needs a study break and a little bit of color in your dorm hall will certainly brighten things up. Try decorating your door this holiday season, and if not, make it your New Years resolution to decorate next year.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
