Don't Settle; Advice From A Past Settler

We all want to be loved and we envy our friends who are in relationships because they seem so happy. So naturally we feel like we have to try to find someone to be with, and sometimes we settle for a less than ideal man. They're giving us attention so why not, right? Wrong. We make so many mistakes when it comes to trying to find our "Mr. Right."

Never let someone stay in your life for longer than they should. Some people are meant to be temporary in our lives. Some people are put into our lives for the sole purpose of teaching us a lesson. Eventually it becomes clear whether or not they are meant to stay. And as soon as you realize that, get rid of them. Don’t let them linger around because you have that false hope that they will have a change of heart. If they are meant to stay, they will. Don’t waste time trying to force something to happen.

Never compromise your own values and morals because you think it will make you more "appealing" to someone. You start to analyze yourself and think that maybe if you change this about yourself he'll find you more attractive. Always stand firm in your beliefs, especially your faith. Don’t let someone pull you off of your path with God. In the end God will always be there for you, but the boy won't.

“A woman's heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him just to find her.”
Maya Angelou

Never let someone make you feel like you're not valuable or worthy of their time and affection. Your value is who you are in Christ, not a boy.

"She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her."
Proverbs 3:15

No one should ever have the power over us to make us feel like we are not worthy of being loved. They should never make us feel like we are inadequate or like we aren't good enough for them.

"Your value doesn't decrease based on someone’s inability to see your worth."

Lastly, never settle for less. Sit down right now and describe your ideal man. Be precise, be honest. Describe how you want him to treat you, how you want his laugh to sound and how you want him to make you feel. Now compare this to the scumbag you have around now and is the sole reason of why you're even reading this. He doesn't meet your description does he? Don’t settle for him. Don’t settle because you think you can't do better. Don't settle for him as a placeholder until the next guy comes around because you may miss the opportunity meet your ideal man. Be patient. There is someone out there for all of us, someone who fits our description. Someone who was made to love us unconditionally.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
