10 Things I Wish I Knew My Senior Year Of High School

1. You will miss it.

I know everyone is telling you you will and you don't think there is even a chance of it happening as graduation gets closer and the 'lasts' are happening but, I promise you you will miss the people you spent the last 4 years with. You will miss walking down the halls that felt like they caved in on you more and more each year.

2. It will go by faster than you think.

As you start counting down the days, it feels like graduation day can not come soon enough but it will. As you start going through the "lasts" of everything, fourth quarter will be here faster than you think and you'll soon know where you're going to start the next chapter in your life.

3. You will get into to the school you are meant to be at.

That F you got in Algebra 2 Freshman year, it doesn't matter. The D you got in Biology Junior year doesn't matter and neither does the C you have in Government. That one grade is not going to determine your future so stop stressing.

4. You won't stay in touch with everyone you thought you would.

No matter how close you are to the 14 girls at your lunch table, you will only stay in touch with a few of them. You will promise each other that you won't but you will, each of you will soon be at different school miles apart, you will meet new people and you will get caught up in your lives and without even meaning to you will forget to text them back or keep the snap streak going and your best friend from high school will be someone you see on Facebook.

5. You will miss that uniform.

Okay, maybe you do know this one....that kilt that you wore for the last 12 years of your life is basically your best friend now. Even the thought of having to think about what to put on in the morning makes you sick. You'd rather walk around your college campus with the kilt on then have to put on real clothes.

6. You can have fun and get the applications done.

Senior year is supposed to be fun. Your mom is bugging you to get your applications sent in and lecturing you about how you need to learn to manage your time. Go hangout with your friends from 4 pm Friday until 9 pm Sunday, have fun and make memories. Your applications will get done.

7. Apply to the school you know you can't get into.

You never know what could happen, you might end up spending the next 4....5.....years of your life at your 'reach' school.

8. You don't have to have your whole life planned out.

Just because your friend has the perfect boyfriend, already has her acceptance letter to her dream school, has the perfect roommate, and didn't apply undecided....that doesn't mean you need to sit down and plan everything out also, let life happen.

9. Your family will never stop asking you those 2 questions.

"where are you going to school next year" and "what are you majoring in"

Unfortunately these will never go away so get used to them when they start coming up at Thanksgiving.

10. Don't wish it away.

It'll be over before you know it, the last 4 years may have seemed torturous and never-ending but they will be in the past soon. Don't rush your last year at home.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
