Two weeks ago, Manchester was the site of a gruesome terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 22 and injured more than 60 during an Ariana Grande concert. Immediately, waves of support and prayers came flooding in from all over the world and memorials sprung up all around the scene of the attack. Along with the outpouring love from your average Joes, Hollywood also shared their feelings on the attack, sending love and prayers.
Specifically, Katy Perry was quick to comment on the incident, noting that in order to combat this hate we must have love, acceptance, and open borders.
Katy wasn’t alone, either. Other stars like Ariana Grande herself called for more love as a means of combating this evil. Yeah, it’d be nice if everyone could be as loving as these stars while they sit in their gated homes in private communities with security guards keeping watch, but we can’t.
It must be nice to be so far from reality that you can make offensive statements as such because you think you know it all. You think open borders are a good idea? When was the last time one of these stars opened their doors and let people in? Oh, wait, never...
Because they have high security blocking you from coming anywhere near their property. Could it be because they're scared of letting people they don’t know enter their home without being properly vetted and assured they wouldn't be in any danger? Hmm.
Hollywood has become so enclosed in their safe bubbles full of guards and "love" that they fail to realize that the threat isn’t as great to them as it is to the rest of us. We don’t need love to fix this "hate" because this isn’t "hate" that is threatening us.
It's action that threatens us, and it's action that harms us.
Combating hate with love is useful in a playground environment where maybe one kid is the bully and everyone uses reverse psychology to try and help the kid become nice. Using love to combat hate is useful when somebody utters a racial slur and the rest of the normal thinking world supports and shows love towards the victim of the slur. But no, you don’t use love to combat terrorism.
If that worked we would’ve done it after 9/11.
We need -- and deserve -- action. What type of action? I do not know, but I can guarantee you this: it sure as hell isn’t the all healing "love" that Katy Perry and other stars preach about. Put your money where your mouth is, Katy, open up your doors to eliminate one less barrier, go perform a concert in Syria, use all of your healing love to fix the terrorism in the world, but don’t forget to bash politicians who want to use action to combat the actions of terrorists who mean to harm innocent people.
