People spend their entire lives caring about what people think, about every aspect of who they are. Who said that we need to care about what people think? It has taken me years to become comfortable with, well ... me. Once you realize that not giving a sh*t about what others think can make you even happier than caring, your whole world will change.
Being a woman who has always had a little (actually, a lot more than a little) something of a butt, I've learned the hard way that pants don’t fit me like they do other women, and bikini bottoms actually are the worst. I used to beat myself up over the fact that I was never as “skinny” as the other girls.
But one day, I took a step back and decided that I didn't need to care anymore. I finally freed myself from the burden of caring about what other people think, and decided to do things that would make me happy. So, I started eating what I wanted, wearing what made me comfortable, and trying new things that I previously wouldn't have dared to do.
My advice to anyone who is having trouble letting go and not giving a sh*t is to take a step back from your life, and look at it from a different perspective. Recognize all the amazing things that make you who you are. Maybe it's your stunning eyes or maybe it's your unwavering kindness. Take your good qualities with all the things you don’t like, and realize that you being simply you is probably the greatest gift you can give to the world.
This means if you want to dress like Queen Bey, DO IT! If you want to be a ballerina, DO IT! Live for yourself and by your standards. If people say negative things, give them more reasons to be a hater (because that's all they are), and soon enough their negativity won't even register in your mind. Who wants to hear some random person talk sh*t about someone who is actually awesome? Nobody, that's who.
At the end of the day you need to be able to go to bed happy, and proud of who you are. The key is to realize that there are so many people in this world who care about themselves as much as you care about you. People aren't constantly looking at you and judging. Your biggest critic is YOU. Sometimes you just need to step back from a situation and say,
“You know what? I DON’T GIVE A SH*T!”
