Let Him Be And Stop Bashing The Power Of Prayer

God is good, God is great, and I am not ashamed to say so.

Let Him Be And Stop Bashing The Power Of Prayer

"Then they cried to The Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed."
PSALM 107:28-30

I must admit, I am the furthest thing from being a perfect Christian. I sin and have done things that can be looked down upon through the eyes and people of the church, but at the end of the day I know that everything I have is through Him.

Nothing frustrates me more than people bashing someone for their religion, especially towards those that are in the spotlight because of the courage it initially takes to publically stand by your beliefs.

Take Tim Tebow, for instance. He is an unapologetically pro-life, pro-abstinence, and Christian professional football player.

Just a few days ago, the quarterback was traveling from Atlanta, Georgia, to Phoenix, Arizona when there was a medical emergency on board. An older gentleman began having heart complications and shortly fell unconscious. Being in such a jammed atmosphere, everyone on this flight came together to try and assist this man. During all this chaos, someone rose from their seat and walked towards the worried family-- yes, of course, you guessed it. It was Tim Tebow.

He met with the family as they cried on his shoulder, which led to him beginning a prayer with the entire section of the plane that consisted of different cultures and ethnicities. Once the plane landed in Phoenix, it was confirmed that his man got a pulse back.

Whether this was a chance of luck or a miracle through the Grace of God, I completely believe this happened because of the magnificence behind the power of prayer.

Now, it's no surprise that this surfaced on all platforms of social media, but some of the backlash received regarding it, completely and utterly nauseated me.

I've seen comments that read:

"Tim Tebow was getting in the way while trying to be a missionary on a plane? What a putz!"

"Tebow is the male equivalent of a Kardashian. Maybe he ought to change his name to Kim."

"Prayed? Give me a break. Get out of the way and let modern medicine take care of the sick. Idiot."

If this situation occurred with your Average Joe and not Tim Tebow, this would not have "disgusted" people, whether this story went viral or not. However, since he is notably known for being a follower of Christ-- people find reason to bash him.

In my opinion, if this occurrence makes one want to throw up because the concept of power of prayer was present, I think it definitely says a lot more about them than it does Tim Tebow.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again-- it really takes courage for one to publicly stand behind their beliefs and their faith, just like how it takes courage for one to publicly "come out" to the world and stand behind it with no shame.

If our society is completely advocated for the sake of "acceptance," why is it that things like this, or even religion as whole, are not taken to account, or at least as often? It's a very uneasy concept that I sometimes have difficulty embracing, despite not being a perfect Christian.

Enough is enough. These actions by no means will put you in any sort of harm. Why must people be so quick to judge and do so in the most hateful and crude manners?

I commend every single person in this world that stands behind whatever it is that makes them different because it's a true testament of who they are-- which they should always be damn proud of.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
