Based solely on the vibe that each gives off.

In This Article:

Since discovering Enneagram last year, I have become obsessed with the personality model. For me, learning more about my type has led to massive amounts of personal growth. But now and again, I like to simply have fun with the enneagram and the types. I have a pretty good view of each type and I couldn't help myself from wondering what vibes different cities in the United States gave off. Here is what I came up with:

1 - The Reformer as Philadelphia

Type One is described as principled, purposeful, self controlled, and perfectionistic. When I think of the city of Brotherly Love, I tend to imagine the deep history and the roots of our country's founding. The forming of the United States' constitution puts me in mind of the principled and purposeful qualities of the one.

2 - The Helper as Denver

Type Two was difficult for me to decide on. Eventually I thought Denver fit best, I imagine the city as a inviting and non-judging community that falls in line with the two traits of being demonstrative, generous, and people-pleasing.

3 - The Achiever as New York City

New York City is a highly dynamic place, but the most common characteristics I think of NYC as are shared with that of the Type Three: success oriented, adaptive, driven, image conscious.

4 - The Individualist as Seattle

When I think of Seattle I think of rain, and being withdrawn from the rest of the country. Type Fours, know for being melancholic, sensitive, expressive, self-absorbed is the perfect fit for the Rainy City.

5 - The Investigator as Boston

Type Five is described as perceptive, innovative, secretive, isolated. Boston evokes feelings of independence and intuition, much as the five, and can seem standoffish at times.

6 - The Loyalist as Chicago

Chicago seems to be a great representative of the Midwest and shares many commonalities with the Type Six, such as "engaging, responsible, hard-working, trustworthy."

7 - The Enthusiast as San Antonio

Admittedly, I don't know much about San Antonio, but when I think of this city I imagine a vibrant cultural center. This idea seems to fit best with the Type Seven that is known as spontaneous, versatile, distractible, and scattered.

8 - The Challenger as San Francisco

San Francisco was an easy choice for me. This city feels prideful and bodacious and immediately made me think of the self-confident, willful, decisive, and confrontational Type Eights.

9 - The Peacemaker as Los Angeles

When I think of Los Angeles I imagine easy-going surfers, and that relaxed California state of mind. This is why I chose LA as the receptive, reassuring, agreeable, and complacent representative of the Type Nine.

Cities are not people, but just as people, cannot fully be defined by a number. There is more growth and depth for all of us than one label, and more qualities that others may not always see. These were just how I view each city and enneagram type, but as always, there is more than meets the eye.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
