For me, a small act of kindness goes a long way.
While many would think it's the big things that matter the most, for me, it's the little things that count. Doing all the small things right will end up making the biggest differences. And overall, they will just end up making you happy, whether it's doing a small act of kindness or someone doing one for you.
I didn't really think of any of this until the other day. I wasn't having the best day, I was stressed, late and just trying to get to class. I wasn't really paying any attention when a boy walking past me said, "Girl, you should smile more because you're so pretty!"
It wasn't so much that he called me pretty and that I wanted that kind of attention, but having someone notice me and compliment me just made my day. I was so shocked someone would even say that to me because I was sure you could tell I wasn't having the best day all over my face.
Him having said that made me want to smile at everyone that day and for that reason I did. For once I decided to focus on the small things, rather than the big things I had ahead of me. Instead of keeping my head down and my eyes glued to my phone, I walked to class making eye contact with people and smiling just to see them smile back. I can honestly tell you it was the coolest thing too.
Most of the time you don't really think about it when you walk past someone and just give them a soft smile or nod and just go on with your life. But seriously, next time you are out, actually take the time to look up and see how many people you can smile at or say hey to because it truly might make someone's day. Like I said, it's the little things that count.
It is so cool how just a small gesture can affect you and all of the others around you. Even if you are sad, mad, or stressed if you just look in the mirror and force yourself to smile it's like your brain tells you now it's time to be happy! It suddenly becomes contagious and can benefit you in so many ways. It's the smallest things, like a smile that can make your day go from bad to good in a second!
