Do You See Singleness As A Blessing?

I love being single. It feels so nice to be able to say that. I feel like everyone around me at home and at college are constantly stressed about trying to find someone to date. Also, my ex-girlfriends and friends seem to be getting married. I understand people’s desire to find a significant other because I too want to find my wife and have kids. I’m just not in a rush. I am in no rush because I don’t want to make a mistake, and because singleness is a blessing.

Does anyone else feel that constant pressure to find boyfriend or girlfriend? Especially, when most of the people around you are in serious relationships. I know at school it seems like everyone is trying to find a fiance before they graduate; I guess that's why they call it ring by Spring. We all know “that friend” that is constantly trying to find a boyfriend or girlfriend. I used to be “that friend.” I got into many bad relationships and hurt many people. I forced myself into relationships with people I hardly knew; they would buy into it and I wouldn't. That was destructive for me and those around me. I have learned now differently, I know now that I should be looking for someone to glorify God with. That I should be running after God’s heart look to my right then left and see who is beside me. That is the woman I should be trying to date. I also need to take the time to find if we click mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Who says I am ready to be locked down? I like my singleness.

One day my friend Josiah showed me a video about singleness as a blessing (https://youtu.be/-L4yt_wWYCE). It put singleness into perspective. God gives you singleness for a reason. When you are single you are still in a relationship, a relationship with God. Singleness is good it's a time when you can really bare down and work on your spiritual relationship with Christ. It's a time where you can really get out and serve God without worrying about another person being able to work with your schedule. If you are single you can just leave and go serve overseas like when the earthquake hit Haiti. Single people don’t have to worry about their kids or wife when they make that trip. In 1 Corinthians 7, Paul tells us that God will give you a season of singleness to give you an undistracted devotion to the Lord. Take all the free time and free space to devote your time to God. Don’t use your whole single experience to yearn for a spouse, use it to fall in love with God.

Don’t be ashamed to love your singleness or to love your desire for a relationship. Just be content in the situation God has put you in. Tell the Lord what is on your heart. Singleness can be such a gift and blessing, don’t let it slip away.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
