The reflection staring back at you through the glossy palette of the mirror, is a face not recognizable. The stranger is someone you can no longer put a name to a face. Ever feel like you are so far gone, you do not know where to begin to find yourself? Know you are not alone, most people will not admit to feeling lost in their own life, because they are too filled with pride and embarrassment. So, they hide it by trying to fit in as much as possible. So, they participate in thirsty Thursdays, drinking so much they cant walk in a straight line. Then, they party hard all weekend, to the point when it comes to Monday morning, all your assignments haven't been touched, and skipping classes begins to be a regular routine.
Problems, obstacles, and issues are all part of life, but they get in the way of what is really important. Sometimes one has to experience a long journey of road stops and heartache before they come to the conclusion of what their true destination in life is.
Those stupid drama sessions between friends, don't just add unwanted stress, but unnecessary bullshit to everything going on around them. When dealing with true friends, there will eventually be those casual fights that happen sometimes, but those stupid petty fights three times a week are just ridiculous. Real friends are supposed to rise one up, not knock them down on their knees. It comes to the point where you have to ask yourself, are these people really worth all this time, drama, and stupidity? Most of the time, the answer is no, but those few special people, are the ones that will always be there for you, when you need them the most. Real friends will be there for you during the worst times of your life. The times when you are at the lowest point, and they refuse to leave your side.
Home issues especially effect one the most, they can cloud one’s judgment and opinions in general. When dealing with a potential life or death situation, especially when someone very close to you has a terminal disease, like a parent, sibling,or friend, life seems like to much to handle. Instead of taking care of yourself, you try to make everything seem and appear normal, when in reality it is rapidly becoming an emotional roller coaster ride. You put everyone needs closet to you first, and care for yourself last, leaving all your needs and wants untended to, and the weight of the world on your shoulders. Grades begin to drop, causing extra stress and pressure to overwhelm yourself with, and in actuality all you really care about is changing what has become of your life. Every night you wish that things were different, or that you could be anyone but yourself right now, cause anyone’s life that doesn't have a future of death in it seems better than this right now. Your life turns into a reoccurring nightmare you cannot wake up from, you cannot press the pause button or rewind; living in the past, where everything was good and normal seems like an impossible dream. A dream that is a hopeless wish to even think about. “There are moments..moments that in a split second your life changes forever, and before you know it…you’re somewhere else.”(Derek Shepherd)
Life is never a walk in the park, or simple; it is complicated, it has its ups and downs. Although, for a person who is in high school, or college, it isn't suppose to feel like the weight of the world is on their shoulders, one wrong move and it all comes tumbling down, and completely destroyed. “You don’t know this yet, but life isn't supposed to be this hard.”(Meredith Grey)
When one experiences heartache and defeat early on in life, that doesn't mean that their life will continue be a roller coaster of misery and destruction, it just means that all the terrible stuff has already happened to them. For example, experiencing the lost of a loved one at a young age,a parent for instance. It takes an emotional toll and you feel like you will never be the same again, but life will eventually get better, in time. It will not be the way it use to be, as if death and disease didn't come rippling in and destroy your family, it just means that you have to find a new “normal” and eventually it will feel like you actually belong in your life. Eventually you will stop sleep walking, and begin to start living again. One day you will realize what your passion is, and what you have been put on this planet for. That day will come, when you come into contact with your true purpose. The day that you realize who had stood by you through all of it, and will continue to be there, know matter what happens, those special friends will never leave your side, ever. That is the day when you find yourself.
