Although some of us college students do not like to admit it, we all watch Disney movies and cry, laugh, or both of those at the same time. Disney has some films that are really great for us to watch, as they can teach us lessons that apply to this time in our lives. Here are five movies that, in my opinion, you should watch this semester.
5. "The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea"
Sequels of Disney princess movies are usually not nearly as well done as the originals, but the second Little Mermaid film is one that any college student can relate to. Ariel's daughter, Melody, knows that there is more to the world than the castle she lives in and she goes on an adventure to see where her mother is really from. Many college students also feel the need to get out of their hometowns and experience new things, so they can learn a lot from this Disney classic.
4. "An Extremely Goofy Movie"
"An Extremely Goofy Movie" portrays the biggest fear that many of us have had: our parent coming to college with us. But, through Max's experience with his Dad, we can learn to appreciate our parents and understand just how hard it is for them to let us go.
3. "Monsters University"
We all loved watching how Sully and Mike became best friends, but this movie can also teach college students what it is like not being the smartest, or best athlete, or best "Scarer" in Mike's case. Our biggest rivals in college can become our best friends and "Monsters University" can teach us that.
2. "High School Musical 3: Senior Year"
Do not lie and say that you did not watch this movie the night before graduation and bawl your eyes out. I know that I sure did. The third "High School Musical" tore our hearts apart because it shows the truth about going to college. You are going to leave behind your friends, but they will always be some of the people who you are closest with, even if you are across the country from each other.
1. "Toy Story 3"
Possibly the most depressing, but wonderful, Disney animated film in decades, "Toy Story 3" shows how difficult growing up is. You are going to have to leave behind your most beloved toys when you leave for college, but they will always love you no matter what. Growing up can be sad, but it is also the most exciting time of your life.
