10 Disney Moms That Need Recognition

For the few Disney moms there are...

10 Disney Moms That Need Recognition
Disney

They may be fictional but the love these mothers couldn't be more real. Here are the Disney mothers that need recognition:

1. Mrs. Incredible aka “Elastigirl”

Elastigirl is a super mom (apparently her name is Helen?) Anyways, Helen keeps a flexible but busy schedule and even has time to somehow cook steak dinners on Monday nights while her husband is at “bowling night” and deals with other various midlife crisis. Besides her everyday routine, one time Helen hijacked a fighter jet and then literally made herself into a boat to transport her children across an ocean to ultimately save the entire city from sure destruction. Helen seems like she could use a homemade “#1 Mom” magnet.

2. Andy’s Mom

According to Pixar.wiki, Andy’s mom is a minor character in the Toy Story series. After some research Andy’s mom appears to be seen as such a minor character that the producers didn’t give her a first name, only referring to her as “Mrs. Davis.” Andy’s mom devotes her life to picking up Andy’s toys off the floor while Andy is off doing teenage angst things. Although we don’t know much about “Mrs. Davis” besides her advanced level vacuuming skills, we can assume that she has a wide variety of crock pot recipes and probably keeps her pantry stocked with organic applesauce. Maybe for Mother’s Day Andy should treat his mom as more than just a minor character.

3. Mrs. Potts

Mrs. Potts loves making dinner so much that she organizes a whole choreographed scene with her entire friend group to express this passion. Mrs. Potts would be the cool mom that always makes pizza rolls and purple Kool-Aid when your friends come over to play Wii tennis. Her teacup children don’t need to take this for granted and should put a little more thought into their mother’s day gift besides a free hug coupon.

4. Merida’s Mom

Merida’s mom is the kind of mom that secretly hopes her kid will want to do ballet and arts & crafts but despite her intentions, convinces her kid to “follow your dreams.” She even turns into a bear and goes on a magical bonding journey throughout medieval Ireland to help Merida discover her “place in the world.” Merida needs to invest in a nice spa day certificate for her mom this Mother’s Day.

5. Kala

Kala is the Gorilla mom from Tarzan who takes Tarzan in as her own child after his parents are killed by a leopard. Kala has a gentle and kind soul and constantly has to defend Tarzan from her husband who consistently tries to exile Tarzan from the Gorilla clan. As Tarzan becomes an adult child, Kala still supports Tarzan and his quest to explore his role in the human race. Such a sweet mom really is just satisfied with a homemade card.

6. Grandmother Willow

Pocahontas goes wherever the wind takes her which is usually to Grandmother Willow because although Pocahontas claims to be this independent person we all know she relies on Grandmother Willow’s advice. Even though Grandmother Willow is a stationary tree, Willow gives some A1 advice, particularly on Pocahontas’s controversial love life. Grandma deserves something nice, but is it awk to get a plant another plant for Mother’s Day?

7. Predita

Predita is more commonly known as the 101 Dalmatian mom. Predita deserves some real props for remembering all of her children’s names and making sure they are adequately fed. Remember that one dog that rebelled against bed time? Yeah imagine if all 101 rebelled at the same time. This is what Predita deals with on the daily and it's about time her children all banned together to make her breakfast in bed.

8. Tangled Moms

This is a nice double mom power. Shout out to Rapunzel’s real mom for searching for her for a solid 18 years, although we all know that as the queen she probably could have done more than annually sending some floating lanterns into the sky. Honestly Rapunzel has it easy because she just needs to spend the day with her mom to make up for lost time. Or is she under a lot of pressure to make up for the 18 Mother’s Days she missed? Hmmm…

Even though Mother Gotham was Rapunzel’s mom captor, maybe she should at least get a shout out for taking a three-day journey just to get the girl some paints. Maybe?

9. Duchess

Duchess is that mom that has three young children but still manages to have time for a pedicure once a week and a biweekly girl’s night out. Duchess has mastered the soft but stern/you better do what I say voice and because of this her kids do not step out of line. Despite all odds, she has managed to teach them how to play the piano and paint, overcoming the fact that they have no opposable thumbs. Her kitten children better step up because Duchess is the mom that low key expects nice jewelry and chocolate covered strawberries on Mother’s Day.

10. Bonus: Mulan’s Grandma

Let’s just take a minute to admire how much faith she has in this cricket to not escape through the bars of this cage.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
