Well, Disney does it again! After the huge success of Maleficent, and the soon to come out Cinderella, Disney reveals the lead actress in it’s new live-action classic, Beauty in the Beast, Emma Watson.
Watson seems to be ecstatic to take on the role of Belle as she posted this on her Facebook page for her fans to read, “I’m finally able to tell you… that I will be playing Belle in Disney’s new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I’ll get to dance to ‘Be Our Guest’ and sing ‘Something There’. My six year old self is on the ceiling – heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can’t wait for you to see it. Emma xx”
It seems like a perfect fit for the feminist actress, made famous by the role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series. Belle, like Hermione, is known for her intellect, individualistic personality, and the desire to define her own destiny, so it's no surprise this role went to Emma Watson.
Watson will again work alongside, screen writer, Stephen Chbosky, working together in the film The Perks of Being a Wallflower a few years ago. The film will be directed by Bill Condon, director of films such as Twilight: Breaking Dawn and Gods and Monsters, so fans can expect excellence for sure.
Although the actor playing the Beast has yet to been revealed, E! speculates that Ryan Gosling may be taking the role. While Disney declined to comment, viewers are at home with their fingers crossed. Emma Watson and Ryan Gosling together in a movie? What else could a girl ask for…
In the end, viewers are just as excited to see Watson in the role as she is to be playing it. After all, what little girl growing up doesn’t dream of being a disney princess?
That's right, preach it Emma! We love you!
