I’ve recently joined a Facebook page called “Disney Junkies.” It is a closed Facebook page that you have to request to be a member of. When I requested to join, I really didn’t know what to expect. I originally wanted to join because I love Disney and had a trip coming up. I didn’t know what was being said in this page or who anybody was but let’s just say, it was a great decision to join.
The page was started by Willy and Frank Goodman. Two men who created this group for people to help people plan the perfect vacation, share their magical experiences, and even make some fellow Disney lovin’ friends.
Some of the most popular posts you will find on this page are people posting their countdowns until their vacations, restaurant suggestions, and fellow junkies just wishing others to have a magical day. My personal favorites are the ones asking to see everyone’s photos with certain characters. It’s awesome seeing the different photo-ops that different guests take at different times of year.
Recently, there have been a lot of Halloween costume posts asking suggestions to make costumes better or just showing off their attire early. Most of these posts are in preparation for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. MNSSHP is an event that Walt Disney World throws every year. Guests dress up and go trick-or-treating around the Magic Kingdom while also meeting some rare characters and walking right onto rides. I had the opportunity to go in 2009 and met all 7 dwarfs at once. It is a celebration I hope everyone gets to attend at least once in their lifetime.
When members were asked what are some of their favorite things about the Disney Junkie page are, fellow member Marylou Tello said “ I love that I can post tons of my crazy Disney adventures on here and no one gets annoyed like they do on my regular page!” Disney Junkie, Matt Winter, said “ I like the ability to discuss all things Disney, the good, the bad, and the ugly. No matter the question, comment, or complaint, there is always someone on here that has helpful ideas.”
Disney is a magical place that brings so many people together and even when you can’t be there physically, you still get that feeling of happiness while scrolling through this page in a city miles away from "The Happiest Place On Earth."
There is also merchandise to represent this awesome page. Modeled on the page, there are shirts and sweatshirts of all colors and designs available for Junkies worldwide to purchase.
