What It's Like Going to Disney as an Adult

Walt Disney World is in fact the happiest place on Earth, located in Orlando, Florida. No matter your age, there is something for everyone to have an amazing experience. Disney World is NOT just "for kids" and "childish."

When I first went to Disney I was 11-years-old. I went with my mom and dad. They had gone several times before, and I was thrilled that I was finally going to go to this wonderful place and take my very first plane ride. Seven days went by too fast, and I remember being so depressed when we were flying back to Albany. It was such an a magical experience, no pun intended, and I took so many incredible memories with me that I still can recall to this day, eleven years later.

For years I could not wait to go back. I dreamed about what it would be like to go again, what would have changed, who I would go with etc. But as the years went by, and the older I got, I worried that going to Disney World again as an adult wouldn't be the same. As much as I knew and saw other people going to Disney and having a wonderful time in their 20's, 30's, and 40's, I still was concerned for my experience. What if I looked silly fan-girling over my favorite Disney characters at my age? What if I looked "too old" wearing Mickey Ears? Despite these things, I would not let them stop me. I could not wait to return to one of my favorite places.

Last winter, I was told by my dad and step-dad that we would be going to Disney World in May, to celebrate my step-dads graduation from grad school. I was beyond thrilled and I immediately set a count down to the day we leave in an app on my phone, it had been ten years too long!

It came fast, and we were off! As we traveled to Florida I thought to myself, wow I was so young the last time I went to Disney. It was the summer before I started 7th grade. Now, I was 21 and about to enter my senior year of college. I wondered how I'd feel once I arrived, if I would feel different, or feel like a child again.

Well I'm here to tell you, being in Disney World as an adult is just as incredible as going as a young kid. I felt young at heart, and had no problem geeking out over my favorite Disney characters and movies. I took a picture with Olaf from Frozen, belted out every word to the Frozen Sing-Along show in Hollywood Studios, rode the Little Mermaid ride twice, had an amazing dinner in Belle's Castle and enjoyed every minute of it. And for you 21+ Disney guests? You can drink. Enjoying a cocktail, poolside, at your resort, pure paradise.

Everyone enjoyed themselves. Whether you're meeting characters, going on thriller rides, or having dinner in palace's, your age does not make a difference. Going to Disney as adult is just as wonderful, and maybe even better than it is when you're a young child.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
