Mark your calendars, people, because there's a four-day Disney Channel Original Movie Marathon happening May 27th through May 30th! Since there are over 40 movies playing throughout the marathon, only the most highly-trained and dedicated binge-watchers will be able to watch them all. If you truly believe in yourself, check out the full schedule here. For those with work commitments or a regular sleep schedule, I've narrowed down the top 5 must-watch DCOMs for this May.
1. "The Cheetah Girls 2"
On Friday, May 27th at 9:55/8:55 Central p.m., the greatest sequel in the history of sequels will grace our television screens. It's not the original "Cheetah Girls" movie, which is special and beloved to me, it's the original movie's cool older sister. "The Cheetah Girls 2" takes place in Barcelona, and it's the last of the Cheetah Girls installations that still features Raven-Symoné. To get your fix of tropical adventure and girl power, make sure to check out "The Cheetah Girls 2."
2. "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam"
On Saturday, May 28th at 8:00/7:00 Central p.m., start your summertime off with music, friendship, and fun while reminiscing on the good old days when the Jonas Brothers were still together and Demi Lovato wasn't constantly going off on Twitter. Mitchie and the crew battle it out with Camp Star, the rich kids camp across the lake, to prove once and for all that Camp Rock is truly the place to be.
3. "Halloweentown"
Frankly, you can skip Sunday and skip right to Monday at 11:30 AM/12:30 Central p.m. and get your spooky Fall fun on with the original (and best) Marnie Cromwell and her wacky witch family. Watch Marnie harness her powers as a young witch in her attempt to defeat Kalabar and save Halloweentown from being frozen in time.
3. "High School Musical"
Catch the first "High School Musical" on Sunday at 4:25/5:25 p.m. Central. I know I'm sticking to the status quo by picking such an expected movie, but HSM is a classic. Beloved, peppy, and probably better than any Oscar-nominated film, "High School Musical" is a relic of our middle school years.
5. "Cadet Kelly"
Wrap up your weekend of fun with "Cadet Kelly" at 11:55 PM/12:55 Central p.m.. In this pre-HSM era DCOM—arguably released during the early DCOM Renaissance—Hilary Duff ditches the Lizzie McGuire persona and plays Kelly, a fashionable, bratty young teen sent off to military academy. Christy Carlson Romano of "Even Stevens" stars as her nemesis, and it's amazing. Celebrate the power of pink and individuality with "Cadet Kelly."
